Hey, all:

I'm looking for a spare takeup reel for a TU55. Anyone have an extra lying
around they can reasonably part with?

I'd be happy to offer either $10 plus shipping, or ten OL-1 8/I front
panel lamps plus shipping. Whichever you prefer. :)

E-mail me if interested. Thanks!

o...@panix.com ...By the way, does anybody still manufacture
DECtape? It seems unlikely, but I'm willing
to be surprised. :)

Mr. Gesswein, I got your reply but I'm not sure you got mine. If you have
a spamtrap, could you check it for my address?

I would think someone good at using a lathe could turn one
out of aluminum fairly easily. Finding tape is different
problem, though.

I have one with a broken piece. I have the piece and it looks like it
could be glued easily. But I don't know
if that would leave any rough edges or not. I can take a pic if you
like and post it online if you like. Or send
you the pic of it.

Thanks, all; someone's been able to line me up with a takeup reel. :)

I've never worked with a metal lathe. I'm okay with a wood lathe, which
could create a reel which was an interesting conversation piece. :)

I imagine that after the glue had set, it wouldn't be a problem to sand
down the edges. The glue would want to be something of the "plastic-weld"
variety, rather than just a super-glue or somesuch, so the bond would stay
solid under the repeated centrifigual force it would get in use. Should be
doable, though!

o...@panix.com Yes, I know the centrifigual force is also an
argument against making wooden DECtape reels.
Still, it _is_ kind of tempting. :)

I still have an old DECtape reel but unfortunately it was extensively
modified many years ago to hold a Curta Calculator on a clipboard.
