Description: The trusty old PDP 11.

QBUS PDP-11 Collection Available
Hi, all! I'm selling my collection of PDP-11 systems, parts, books, and miscellany. My time has been eaten by other pursuits, and my collection is just taking up too much space. I live in BC, Canada, just across the border from Sumas, WA. I'd rather hand over the bigger pieces in person if possible, as I learned... more »

RSX Made Easy
... I use SPWN$ only to run MCR or DCL, when then call the utilities. You've isolated the issue though: I was using MOUNT/OVER=IDENT. I don't seem to need to mount foreign disks--IO.ATT works just fine within RTX.TSK. In fact, I use IO.ATT for every disk access as it's the only way I have to determine whether a disk is a mounted F11A... more »

SDSX.SYS in RT-11
Has anyone been able to successfully use SDSX.SYS under a Mapped RT-11 Monitor? Or does it have a bug and if so, does anyone have a fix? For as long as I can remember, I have used SDX.SYS (= SDHX.SYS) to debug my programs under RT-11. Unfortunately, the SDHX.SYS variant freezes everything in RT-11 (all jobs, device drivers, monitor and... more »

PDP-11/05 clock interrupt
I've been trying to get the clock interrupt to work on an 11/05. I set up vector 100 to point to 2000, where I store a 0, to halt it when the interrupts comes. I set 100 octal, bit 6 set, in 177546 to enable the interrupt. I can read back this value with an EXAMINE, so I know the value got stored there. At location 1000 I have a 777 (branch on self). I put... more »

Which PDP-8, PDP-11, Etc., Components Require Protection from High Humidity?
... My memory is that the specifications are "0% to 90% (noncondensing)". So the question is to protect things from the highest levels of humidity, and not "high" humidity. I would expect that the worst problem is if a sudden gust of warm, humid air reached cold hardware, which might cause the hardware to be colder than the dewpoint of the... more »

Announcing a new TCP/IP for RSX
Ok. The time is drawing near to actually get my new TCP/IP for RSX out the door. So I'm looking for possible interested people who would like to try things out. This is like field testing, so expect there to be some issues, and helpful feedback would be appreciated. The state right now is that the protocols seems to work fine. They have... more »

Which PDP-8, PDP-11, Etc., Components Require Protection from High Humidity?
I've been storing my PDP-8s, PDP-11s, disk drive units, floppies, etc., in my garage at about 45% relative humidity in an attempt to prevent corrosion/deterioration. Finances are about to force me to turn off my dehumidifier and I can't bring the *complete* machines into the house. Which components, modules, or other related items should I be most... more »

Measuring PDP-11 relative instruction times with GRUB
Following up an earlier discussion I wrote a little holiday utility, GRUB, to measure relative instruction times. This early set of results already provides some interesting information. Testing: o Each operation was repeated for the duration of a clock tick. o The twelve tests are run sequentially as a "test cycle".... more »

Odd RX50 driver behavior on P/OS 3.2
I'm writing some programs to read and write RX50s to and from disk images on my PRO-380, running P/OS 3.2. The program to write a floppy works fine - reads blocks from a disk image file using FCS, writes to the floppy using QIO IO.WLB. Program ends on end of the input file, which, for a proper RX50 disk image is after 800 blocks.... more »

Access to RSTS/E IOPAGE Registers
I require some help with a program which may be of interest to other hobby users. The program is: SHOW EMULATOR or SHOWEM and runs under: (a) RT-11 both UnMapped and Mapped Monitors (b) TSX-Plus (c) RUST both RUST/SJ and RUST/XM (d) RSTS/E (e) RTEM-11 The current Emulators which are detected and displayed... more »
