Description: The trusty old PDP 11.

Looking to obtain an LS-11 System
Hello! I am looking to obtain an LSI-11 to add to my collection here. I realize that I may actually be pursuing (trying to pursue? Following?) a wild goose here, but I thought I would ask. I am based in the US, and in Queens NY as it happens. To physically obtain the thing I am willing to travel to LI or NJ or CT for example.... more »

RL02 packs to disk image
I have some RLO2 disk-packs. I want to have images of their contents made so that I can mount and play with them using SIMH. I am prepared to open my wallet and let someone put a vacuum cleaner hoze into it. Any takers?

no boot after kernel compilation of 2.11BSD
Hello. I installed 2.11BSD on my 11/53 and now I'm trying to add network support to it. I copied the GENERIC file in /sys/conf to SYSTEM, and edited the params for the new system. I'm using disks connected to RQDX3, so basically my root partition is on /dev/ra0a and swap in /dev/ra0b. I changed the rows in SYSTEM accordingly, to use the ra disks instead... more »

flow control on PDP11 MMJ
Hello. I'm trying to install a full 2.11BSD from PC using serial port and vtserver@38400 baud. I used a cable where I connected the MMJ signals to the serial port in this way: MMJ / RS232 TXD -> RXD RXD -> TXD DTR -> DSR DSR -> DTR It worked, so I correctly installed the root on my HD. After that, I... more »

FKABD0/CFKABD0 11/34 diagnostics and simh fails test 103
Hi I'm sure I've posted this before, but I hit it again and thought I'd ask. It's pretty obscure. I've been running DEC diagnostics against simh, in 11/34 mode. I could swear FKABD0 is expecting behavior which simh is not performing. Specifically, (and this is my question), it looks like on an 11/34 if... more »

BSD for 11/23 and MSCP
Hello. I have an 11/23, 512k RAM, MSCP disk (RD32) that I would use with a Unix also with network. I tried Ultrix 3.1, it works and it's light, but network has bad behaviors I couldn't solve, so I cannot use it in effect. I thought about 2BSD, but 2.9 don't support MSCP, there's a version 2.9 with MSCP made by a user, but I couldn't install it to disk...... more »

Symbolic Name List in VMS
It has been over 10 years since I used VMS, but I seem to remember that there was a feature available called Symbolic Name List which is a superset to (and MUCH superior to) the PATH name in DOS. I no longer have access to the Grey Wall, so I attempted to look in bitsavers. No luck at all. I also tried at the HP site, but there dose not seem to be a set of... more »

Home-made SDI cables
Folks, I am interested in making my own SDI cables. I have a KDA50 and an RA80, 72, and 73. All I have are the SDI cables that came on the RA80. I checked the prints very carefully at the RA80 end and KDA50 end, and noted that I could plug the SDI cable coming from the back of the RA80 directly into the KDA50 (after I took the large metal shell... more »

devices compatibility on Dilog SQ703A
Hello. I searched for a manual for this card without luck. This card is a TMSCP to SCSI controller for tape units. Analyzing the board components I understand that this is a HVD-SCSI interface, so normal single-ended SCSI tape units won't work. I tried to connect a seagate 1GB/2GB DAT/DDS unit through a HVD-SE adapter, I... more »
