Two of the ways that this can fail are:
o no available virtual devices
o file already associated with another virtual device
How can a command file tell these two apart? Both exit with a status
of 2 (<ERROR>).
I thought to see if the container file was in use and not shareable,
but that does not seem to be the case. DMP can still read the
container file that is connected to a virtual device.
There is a VCP DUMP command which will write information about virtual
devices to a file. I could then read the file and find out if my
container file is already in use. I really don't want to do that.
Any other ideas?
Thanks.
