I'm a LONG time Micron/MPC buyer of their computers and find my self very FRUSTRATED and concerned. Micron 910i Memory upgrade

I bought a 1 GB DIMM for my 910i but my PC won't boot after installing in slot 3. I have 2 256 DIMS in 1&2. I switched the 1 GB to slot 1 and still no luck. Do I have to change the BIOS settings first? I have 3 slots and the manual indicates I can install up 2 GB of memory total.
