I'm a LONG time Micron/MPC buyer of their computers and find my self very
FRUSTRATED and concerned.

I have a year old MPC "decked out" computer (and it has a 5 year extended
service agreement) and the power supply went out on it (strange in itself).
I spent over 2 1/2 hours on the phone on PRIORITY support before, on another
line, I called and begged the large company support guys (who answered right
away... and who refused to help after an hour) to help.

They did... ordered me OVERNIGHT a new power supply. Right before they hung
up, they mentioned that "oh... it may be next week as we are having trouble
with UPS".

That was 3 weeks ago.

I called 4 days ago and got the recorded message that the tech's don't know
about delivery.

I waited for 45 minutes anyway and talked to someone. I asked him if the
"bosses" understood that this was really bad for business (not my one power
supply... but not shipping anything)... and he stated "... yes... judging by
the number of empty seats around me... I think they do understand that its
bad for business". Guess there's a reason for the long wait times.

Yikes.

Anyone KNOW if they are going away? Going Bankrupt? Anything?

They are under bankruptcy protection. I posted a very similar question in
the alt.sys.pc-clone.gateway2000 newsgroup.

We have quite a few Gateway computers that are still under warranty, but
since they are under bankruptcy protection, they are not able to provide
replacement parts or warranty service.

I hope they can recover. We still have a few years left on our many
warranties!
