I have installed a Dell V505 AIO onto a Dell Inspiron running Windows 7 Home
(64bit) (factory installed) using the CD provided .

I am getting an error message which is titles "Required System Software Not
Installed" and goes on to tell me that Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0
is required. I download the file as directed and upon installation I am
told that it is already installed.

The printer seems to work ok. I have tried installing the latest A02 version
from the website but for some reason it will not detect the USB port and i
get no further.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks for your reply but I tried that and the error message still came up
on restart.

I would try to re-download the latest printer software from Dell's web
site, using a different computer or Internet connection. You may have
received a bad or incomplete download. For some downloads, Dell now
has a kind of "download helper" tool/thing. I don't recommend using
it--choose to download the software using your web browser instead.

I am certain that Windows 7 contains a suitable version of the .NET
Framework. This is a problem caused by faulty logic in the installer.

If you wish to install the latest printer software, you may very well
have to uninstall all the currently installed printer software, unplug
the printer, restart the computer and try it again.

Remove all .nets then download and reinstall them has worked for me.
If that doesn't work then the only other way I've been able to solve it
is a fresh
install of windows.

there is a dell driver version a02 that was released on 9/9/2009. i highly
doubt that this was what came on a cd packaed with a brand new product just
two months after the release. the release notes associated with this driver
say "Dell V505 with Windows 7 support". find the driver on support.dell.com

Thanks for your reply, but as I originally posted I have tried the A02
version and it would not detect the USB port!

I will try the alternative download and if that does not work I will delete
the Dell AIO software and also the .NET and reinstall...

if the printer was already plugged into the computer before the software was
installed i could see it failing to detect a 'new' printer. you should
probably call dell for their advice if this is a new printer, otehrwise i
would suggest disconencting the printer, unintalling the software,
restarting, and trying again (and then plug in the printer when prompted).
