My Hdd fail it's a 10 Gb , I found a 4 Gb but I don't know how to change it
. I mean the laptop don't want to enter BIOS "bios error"
If I disconnect the Hard disk, the laptop only say " non-system disk"..
Is that mean that my Hdd is bad ???
( I try change the jumper on the hdd)
Please help me..

I also have an Armada e500. I'm not sure of your problem. After
installing the new HD, boot the computer and press F-10 during the
Compaq splash screen to enter the BIOS. If the system fails to boot
at all it could be a bad jumper setting, or a bad hd. If you bought
the HD new insert the manufactures install disk and see if it will
boot off of that. If your new HD is used try a WIN98 startup disk, or
a Win2k cd-rom. The HD may not be formatted, that would be why you
are getting a non-system disk error.

Right. First time I install a HDD (many years ago), I didn't realize until
told that one had to BOTH partition and format a complete new drive...

Hi,

Juste try to remove battery pack, let only the AC adapter
Then , press FN + F11 and while those keys are pressed
push the power on button to reinitialize your bios
defaults.

Then try F10 to enter it at the next boot.

Computer Setup for your PC normally is on a small non-DOS partition at the
front of the hard drive, however, you can run it from a boot floppy which
can be created by a SoftPaq from the HP/Compaq website. Check the
software/driver area for your specific model. The disk from this SoftPaq
also will give you the option to re-create this partition in some cases.
