DVD Game Doesn't Work On Compaq -- Tex Murphy: Overseer

The following note is no longer, but is an important observation. I too
bought Tex Murphy: Overseer, to show off the capabilities of my brand
new Compaq 4860 machine with a DVD2 drive. No dice, it don't work. I
haven't a clue as to whether this is a Compaq problem or an Access
Software problem, but any help fixing it would sure be appreciated.

I was very disappointed to find out that the SoftDVD player that comes
with my Compaq 4840 will not handle the DVD version of Tex
Murphy:Overseer, which I've been waiting on for several months to show
off the DVD capability. In the game release notes, Access Software says
that the Zoran SoftDVD player (the one that comes with the 4840) does
not
play full screen exclusive mode correctly and that "they are working
with
Zoran on a fix now."

Is it possible to convert the 4840 to hardware DVD with an MPEG-2 card?
Has anyone done this?

I e-mailed Zoran about this (Zoran makes the SoftDVD software for
Compaq). They replied that they knew of the problem and are fixing it.
They didn't give a time frame.
