display port question

i have an aspire 5002,512 mem 60 gig hd
xp pro, on the back of the laptop i have
an external display port, it says i can
connect a monitor, lcd projector to it.

can i connect it up to the television
or is it just for lcd/monitors.

If it has two rows of small holes in it, it is a video output for a monitor
not for a TV.

Few machines support the composite signal required for a TV, though some
offer SVideo and Divx, if you have suitable ports. SVideo looks like an
older mouse port, and Divx looks like an older printer port with a
rectangular hole amidst the pins. You would need an appropriate cable for
these, and a TV capable of accepting these inputs.
