Does one really need to use heavy handed tactics
such as emoticons (smilies) to get their point(s)
across ?

Do 5 or 10 exclammation marks do justice to a serious
public service group such as AST when one would suffice ?
Does a string of twenty-five capitalized letters
illustrate a point better than would, say, a short
paragraph of well thought out prose or a fine work
of poetry ?
To these questions, I submit to you, the answer is no.
