This is a survival newsgroup...and most here ARE serious survivalists,
despite the political postings.
For most of us, its a way of life.

These were good survival groups a few years ago but usenet is full of
trolls, abusers, wannabes, whatever Mostly political rantings anymore -
only occasionally some good and helpful survival and survivalist postings.
There are a few good survival and survivalist groups at yahoo and google
but Now here is a Real Serious Survivalist group - one of the best with
many many more serious survivalists posting than anything on usenet.
Maybe some of you will check it out? -

other trolls 8 ) But they I do not think, ban for over 30 days unless

It is moderated well. Not heavy handed. They believe in freedom but do
not let people get too carried away. Some foul language but no F words...

would see that it is a World-wide forum. There are even special forums
there where Brits, Aussies etc. can go in private... One of the best
posters is even from Tasmania who is called Stonewolf.

The conquered of the Roman Empire would disagree and the known world at
any time in history has not been a peaceful place. War is like the poor;
it will always be with us. It just seems like that in our little blip of
history.
There may be pockets of peace but by and large, humans in general are a
bane on the earth, fighting about resources, religion or just
differences of opinion and I don't think that is ever going to change.
Americans may be considered the most warlike in our time but it will be
some other super power if it wasn't them. And regardless of our
democratic political systems, the general populous have very little say
in what their pollies choose to do even though they are lumped with the
consequences.

There is that aspect. But WRT the amateur radio newsgroup, Robeson
wouldn't back down on his putrid hate spewing that the group went to
shit. And very, very few people wanted to be censored, so the
resultant moderated group pretty much failed as miserably as the
unmoderated group. I think that is the wish of the Cliffies,
Observers, TMTs, and other assorted Bobs. Squirrelly's dream come

On a lighter note, when faced with threats of death and bodily
harm, most humans can be easily manipulated by ambitious fools
bent on personal gain. It takes only a few to arouse and drive
millions. We see this in politics every day.
Two things would stop this. !) Lots more brighter more aware humans
or 2) Some way to prevent power being concentrated. We had hoped
that minimal government would do this but the few managed to spook
the herd and increase government.

LOL Pinching a nerve in one's back tends to make one grumpy. I usually
have a much more sunny disposition; I just can't find it this week.
I could wish for a more aware populace but as the saying goes, if pigs
had wings... I don't know about your education system but it is probably
similar to ours and teaching children to be independent thinkers is
usually reserved for the very bright. If we want to change the masses we
have to start with the young as most adults are not willing to change or
are just incapable of it. A lot of store is put in a college/university
degree when there are just not the jobs available for everyone with
them. The kids that are good with their hands could be streamed into
trades but a trade is not considered a high enough aim when schools want
to churn out A grade science and maths students because thats what
further school funding is based on.

"teaching children to be independent thinkers" is NOT a goal
of American government schools. On the contrary, children are
propagandized through political correctness and taught government
approved subject matter (school books, required teacher credentials)
from grade 1. And even that isn't enough. The move is now to force
children into 'pre-kindergarten' at age 3 or so.
This represents an obvious danger to thinking parents. That's why
home schooling and private schools have done well in recent years.
