The groundwork is already in place.

We already have the SWAT teams, the camps
such as Gitmo, and Our Nation's Leaders (who
used to be elected representatives) who ignore the
constitution, with no consequence.

We've already had populations of cities moved.
Many of them against their will. There was also an
extermination order given. by a Governor Boggs of
Missouri, to exterminate a population of humans.
At least one group of people have been mobbed and
driven from state to state. Native Americans, and
Mormons.

At least one group has been locked in concentration
camps (American citizens of Japanese descent, during
World War II) though they had not been convicted
of a crime.

I saw a couple of 10 second or so commercials on
another website and it really hit home. They have no
bloodshed or undue violence. But they have a timeless
message. But most survivalists and survival minded
people fear what is happening in the video. The
message? "IT HAPPENED BEFORE, IT COULD
HAPPEN AGAIN..."

The internment was in accord with the "Alien Enemies Act". Germans and
Italians were also interned.
http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/United_States_Statutes_at_Large/Volume_1/5th_Congress/2nd_Session/Chapter_66

Many/most of the Japanese internees were not citizens. They were aliens.
There *were* AJAs interned...they were citizens by virtue of having been
born here. Many/most were minors. As a matter of fact, no non-Caucasian
person could be naturalized as an American citizen; that was the case (by
law) from revolutionary days until post WW2. I do not know the ratio of
native born (citizens) to foreign born (aliens) but further immigration was
banned in 1924.

Further, the vast majority of Japanese that came to the US had no intention
of staying here permanently. That is why they established Japanese language
schools...to prepare their offspring for life in Japan when they returned.

About 60% of the internees were nisei or sansei and full US citizens. They
were no more aliens than Earl Warren.

Using facts to argue with the right wingers is not fair. They can't deal with
facts very well. They respond better to the made up stories that are needed to
meet their pre-concieved notions.

What is even more amazing, quite a few nisei from the camps enlisted and
fought with the 442nd in Europe:

Of course, being a no-no boy usually got you transferred from Manzabar,
which sucked, to Tule Lake, which sucked even more.

2/3 of the Japanese internees were US citizens. Blew your cred.

If German-Americans had been treated the same way as Japanese-Americans
then Eisenhower, Nimitz, and Spaatz would have been interned.

Fort Missoula had 1200 Italian internees, but they were all Italian
nationals, either merchant seamen who were in the wrong place at the wrong
time, or workers at the 1939 World's Fair who lingered too long.

Had Roosevelt interned second and third generation Germans, Irish and
Italians, he could have fought the war his damned self.

If you ever get over to that side of the state, Manzanar is an interesting
site. I was there last year around this time and only had about a half hour
before the visitor center closed. The area is open though, so I was able to
walk around the grounds. The cemetary is about half a mile from the road and
I was losing light rapidly by the time I got there. Walking back in the dark
past the ruins of the barracks and little rock gardens the internees had
built was eerie.

http://www.jendaveallen.com/2005_Death_Valley/pages/web_manzanar_cemetery_2_monument.html

For a National Historic Site the visitor center exhibits did a good job of
pointing out if the government decides it doesn't like your particular
religion or ethnicity, your ass is going to the camps.

I don't kno overall. I've seen an estimate that 25% of the Manzanar
population was children, The camp even had an orphanage since Japanese
infants, even those adopted by Caucasians, were suspects and sent to the
camp.

Other concentration camps like Tule Lake would have been primarily adults
since that is where those who answered the two loyalty questions incorrectly
were sent.

Given the demographics, I would suspect you're correct that many of the
third generation were kids, with the second generation being young families.

Now look up what "odd or questionable reading" means.

You have to be "reading" (someone else's writing), not creating your
own. Your mistakes are your own. If you recognize them you should
correct them before you publish. If you don't recognize them it's just
a mistake.

Well, etymologically you are correct and he is incorrect.

The thing is Bergen-Belsen was not a 'death camp' any more than Camp Sumter
at Andersonville was a death camp. Typhus and starvation were the big
killers at Bergen-Belsen. The US internees were lucky. The US had a rather
comfortable war all things considered and providing food and rudimentary
medical attention for its prisoners wasn't a problem. It could have turned
out to be just as bad as Sumter when the Confederate States didn't have food
and medical supplies for their own, let alone Union prisoners.

Indeed. I grew up in a Finn area with a hint of French and

Correct. I came from a JW family upbringing. Not only do they not
serve militarily in any form of armed conflict, they don't even vote
and are politically neutral. When the draft was still used in the
U.S., they did allow their members to be drafted provided they were
specifically ordered for medical corps, otherwise they they took a CO
position.

Ideally, Medics (either Civilian or in an organized military) wouldn't
need to be armed, because no civilized person or soldier following any
flavor of the UCMJ would be shooting at them - the red cross on their
uniform or tin pot helmet is supposed to mean 'Non-Combatant' on both
sides.

However, there are a lot of mercenaries, terrorists, criminals and
just plain bug-nuts crazies out there who don't believe in any
exceptions. Everyone who isn't on their side is automatically a
target.

For those cases, I have no problems with the Medics being armed if
they choose to be. And out of THEIR adherence to the Geneva
Conventions they won't start shooting at you if you aren't shooting
at them first - because if they end up dead they are of no use to
their patients. Deal?

You do better to take that deal, because once they drop you and remove
the threat, they'll probably do something insane themselves - like
try to get to you, treat you to keep you alive, and haul you off to
the hospital with the rest of the load. Figure _that_ one out.

You know, a similar moment happend on the show "Combat Hospital". The woman
medics were treating civillians, and someone came in, firing. One of the
medics, female, drew and fired. As soon as they kicked the pistol away, they
went into medic mode. It was interesting to watch.

Anyone who works with electricity and claims he has never been shocked
is a liar. All I'll ever claim is that I haven't been shocked to death.
I've worked high voltage power making splices and connections from the
underground grid to pad mounted transformers and you do not play around
with that stuff. If you feel your hair stand on end, you back away from
whatever you're working on being careful not to touch anything. ^_^

Sounds like a woman you don't want to piss off.

Nooo, that is for sure. When she said "wrap that monster and get
busy" - I got busy.

Fond memories....

So, that skillet she hit you over the head with was just a glancing
blow? ;-)

Sounds like a little bitty gal named Vicky I used to boink about 3
times a week. Hard as a rock but loved bedroom play. And she was GOOD
at it.

Sigh..

Fond mammories indeed

I don't remember no skillet ... will some body answer the phone?

She's the one who told me about "Redneck Hippies" (You can tell
because they have rifle rack in the VW), but also told me about the
guy who made the mistake of pissing off his woman. Because they'd
refused to use aluminum cookware, insisting on cast iron... she had a
goodly amount of power behind that right cross. I was most certain to
take her word for it.
Just as there is no educational value in getting kicked a second
time by a mule, there's no percentage with arguing with women -
rednecks or not.
