Description
This is a 1971 facimilie of an important work on Surrealism originally
published in Great Britain in 1937. It featured chapters by Andre
Breton, Hugh Sykes Davies, Paul Eulard and George ugnet. It was edited
by Sir Herbert Read.
It is most interesting to understand how the original members of the
movement saw it before it became "theatre"(Sorry, editorial comment).
This hardback facimile was published in the US in 1971 by Praeger
publishers, Inc. (Motto: "Books that matter), but it was actually
printed in Great Britain. It contains numerous B/w plates. (See sample
below.) It has 251 pages and measures about 7.75 X 10 inches. It is
a well-made book with 2-inch margins, good typography on good paper.
The condition is excellent -- nearly like new. There are no tears or
stains on eith the book or its jacket.

Got it. It ain't that great. Paul Eluard's essay was interesting.
Breton's has been printed elsewere. The essays by the english speakers
seem highly constipated. They could have been better.
