Decided to run away from the crowds so drove a bit to find some emptiness. Paddled out by myself to this stuff. Few more riders soon joined me. I was shaky from not bodyboarding much this winter, but got a few fun ones. Took off a little late, a backwash airdropped me in the trough with little speed. Tried to outrun the lip but I got axed across the small of my back. All I remember is being kicked up and going weightless for an obscenely long time before tumbling over the shallows. Spanked. At least got a few shots afterwards.... more »

...at least while I was out. Went to Bowls to shoot that swell that rocked Tahiti a few days ago. The hype machine was on overdrive in the islands. Was big, but far from huge/epic. Very inconsistent. Some of the NS boys were there to partake. Swam to Big Rights where it was smaller. Will reserve energy for tomorrow. Couple shots; more to come.... more »

Last gasp swells. NNW swell came in, coupled with a firm sideshore trades. Though not ideal conditions still damn fun. There were a few solid ones that came through.

Overcast skies prevailed so I decided to bodyboard for the first time in a long time. Had a blast on some small ones at Backdoor. Played with the GoPro but missed out on one that I close to the tube, but just out of control. Ended up shooting a bit afterwards just to get more exercise. Wonder if we'll get anything more from this winter?... more »

Went out to stretch my legs. Conditions were great with light offshores and sunny skies. Unfortunately, there was only a tiny pulse of swell coming in, and it hit negative low tide. Looking for an opportunity, I saw a bunch of groms on the beach. Coach Rainos Hayes was teaching some lucky BB kids about the lineup and competitive surfing. Mostly around 8-12, these kids absolutely ripped. Was wondering why they weren't in school though. Ended up having to wade/stand/crawl in/on/over the reef.... more »
