I've got a couple of these things on an ancient-and-honorable WaveWitch. I've lost at least a half-dozen of them and they seem to me tb such a basically bad idea that I'm hoping maybe somebody has come up with a retrofit workaround. Maybe something where a screw, instead of engaging a plate like on an A-box, compresses a neoprene sleeve?... more »

Had a feeling the surf wasn't going to be as big as forecast, so I decided to finally give my new (very used) SUP board a spin. I've been trying to be open-minded about SUP'ing, the new scourge of surfing (supplanting longboards, kayakers and even bodyboards). Totally sunburnt from the weekend. I entered handboard, paipo, even tray divisions (kooked, but had fun). Saw some sick rollos and even a couple of belly spins. Have you heard of Dear & Yonder, the surf flick? It's all women, done by women. The official SoCal premiere is at the La Paloma down here, next week - July 2nd. Judith is in it, and I understand she'll be there, along with Kassia Meador and a bunch of other bikini babes.
