Where ya at Foon?
Surff
You and 40,000 other Expedition driving tourons.
>Where ya at Foon?
Home this week hosting a niece-in-law on her visit to DC. Back down OC for the
4th and most of the Month of July.
You staying at Pirates Cove again or upgraded to one of those 5000 sq/ft
McMansions?
-Foon
Surprisingly the McMansions are booking up the summer.
We're probably going over Sunday morning when everyone is leaving.
Hopefully, going against the flow will be good.

It's a Lexus SUV now. I didn't see that many Expeditions like the last
visit. 10 years ago every other vehicle was an Expedition. Now it's a
variety of SUV's and a lot of them are foreign.

We stayed at Pirates Cove again.
Did you hear about the explosion on Ocracoke Island? The fireworks
blew up and killed 4 people. Very sad.

Surff
That explosion was rumored to be a humoungous fart by M@rk after
eating Foon's plate of wings:
http://rodndtube.com/rodtemp/Foon_n_Wings.jpg
Speaking of eating and the after effects, Rock Taco in Sat Beach is
now Cantina Dos Amigos North. Same surf board decoration, waitress
said they're cemented, same circular bar. Menu from Cantina dos
Amigos, good pico de gallo, I heard some one say 99 cent margarits.
From workers doing electrical I get the idea that this another
extension of Lou's Blues. ABC, Da Kine and CDAN equally spaced on A1A.

They have Lexus dealers in Ohio?
I'm still driving an old XLT Ford to and from the beach. 6 years old, 60K miles
even. Not too much driving.
>We stayed at Pirates Cove again.
Nice for you and the family.

Yes, we heard that story. I'm surprised there werent more injuries on my own
beach. People were blowing some shit up. Thousands of $$ of rockets went off in
2 hours.
We're at the beach for the month of July. So far nothing to write about.

I just returned from DC and the Chesapeake Bay area. I attempted to
inject a sense of kinship and indeed possibly some happiness into the
area, but I feel that I have failed miserably and therefore I
retreated back to my little humid cottage amongst the pecan trees. I
made a few notes about the area if someone is planning on going to the
region; not enough of worth to make a travelers guide, but just
something to keep in mind when traveling through the area.
1. The DC Metro transit system is nice, and smells that way, the seats
are cushioned and do not contain an inordinate amount of strange
sticky stuff.
2. Don’t make eye contact with anyone on the Metro, and please for the
love of god don’t try to make conversation. This is apparently is a
cultural tradition, you would be wise to not break this taboo.
3. I-95 on a Sunday is backed up in strange places, for no apparent
reason. There is a hill on I-95 that caused a traffic jam that lasted
over a half an hour! There was a major jam just outside Newark, who
the fuck goes to Newark! Much less on a Sunday! My advice is to stay
away; far away from both Newark and hills.
4. There is no possible way to make it to the beach if there is surf;
the volume of traffic prohibits any sort of beach interaction. It is
best to not think about surfing; focus your energies on hiding out in
the woods with some beer and crab cakes until someone rescues you or
it becomes winter, please maintain the fetal position.
5. They give tickets to kids skating outside the city. They did not
give a ticket to the street performer: they should have. I think that
road kill would have been more entertaining than this guy. I had to
look away in shame.
Remember, DC has gone from arresting people who walked down the street
shouting at the populace to nodding at people walking down the street
shouting into their cellphones.

My brother was just down there and took a bunch of pix. I like the
coffered ceiling in the Metro.

Did Foon and Rod see this post?

Big Thumbs Down. Lame...skateboarding is NOT a crime!

Ah, Foon did see this. ;)
As an aside, I lived in DC with my family for two years when I was 2 - 4
years old. True story!
Our Metro has,
A funny ceiling, No it's not a Waffle House.

It is a scientific fact that most Metro riders are contemplating either murder
or suicide, or both.

It has been proven statistically that the part of i-95 between Fredricksburg and
DC is one of the most dangerous stretches of Interstate hiway system in the US.
>4. There is no possible way to make it to the beach if there is surf;
this is true. The answer is to go to the beach not planning to surf. It works
every time.
btw, I make my own crabcakes and never go in the woods due to deer ticks.
This was a day we didn't go to surf.
>5. They give tickets to kids skating outside the city.
It's a lot easier than catching thieves and murderers.

The I-95 Blues are well known... who needs New Orleans blues? The DC
Metro area was the only major one nationwide to experience an increase
in traffic volume/time spent commuting this past year and ranks second
only to LS. This is one exceptionally good reason for welcoming
retirement last year.
The ocean traffic isn't too bad if you are judicious in your timing,
i.e., you may need to re-learn the art of the dawn patrol. We normally
hit the road between 4am and 4:30am in these parts (except for Foon of
course, but he don't surf anymore so that point is moot!).
At first, in writing about DC, I thought you wrote "crackcakes," a
favorite Trinidad District item of consumption.
I corrected Number 3.
[People that cannot understand that their car will slow down going
uphill amaze me. People that cannot comprehend that their car is
slowing down amaze me.]
> 4. There is no possible way to make it to the beach from DC if it isn't dark outside.
I still laugh about the time I was going to meet MikeG in Long Beach,
NJ. For some reason, I figured leaving Jersey City at 7am on a
Saturday would be adequate.
[People that cannot understand that a city with a population of 8MM
might have more than 2-3 headed to the beach on Saturday morning amaze
me.]
