Thought you might fancy a peek at what I'm riding these days.

6'6"x23.75"x3"

... smells like fish.

Perhaps a little of it's ancestry might be informative.
For the last five years I have been riding this,

It's a 6'6" fishy thing I reshaped from an old black and yellow
longboard you might remember,
http://www2.swaylocks.com/files/1003490_Imga0922.jpg

I loved that thing, it went through a few incarnations, a testbed for
whacked out ideas really,

But eventually it met its nemesis, in the form of a closeout tube
(they still count) on a shallow reef,
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h208/Gadget437/Surf/Deadfish.jpg
snapped it right in half and ripped the leash plug right out.

Luckily, I had something waiting in the wings,

This I hacked down from a fat 7'4" thruster that got a completely
delammed bottom on the flight back from NZ.

Just stripped the bottom and lopped a foot offa the tail.

I gave it a fair outing at Ric's Stag weekend down at Sennen... and I
like!
It's a different kettle of fish from the old one, looser at the
expense of some down-the-line rocketshippery, but I think I will learn
to love it.

And I'm grinding up a bunch of weird fins to try on it....
hehehehehehehehe.

Crazy shape Gadget, but I like the experimentation on the re-cut
board.

Did the old board have any delamination prior to re-shaping? If so how
did you deal with the indentations on the deck?

Either way fun to dork around with shapes and fins.

I had only glassed the 7' 4" fat thruster a few weeks when I went on
holiday to NZ. But on the flight back pretty much the whole of the
bottom delaminated (wondered id it had anything to do with
unpressurised holds). The deck was fine, so I just stripped the
bottom and cut a foot offa da tail, then reglassed.
