Fun but cold, coldest it's been in way over a year, probably since winter of
96-97. Last year was such a treat. Yesterday was fun but a bit closed out,
very hard to get the right section. Today was simmilar but I had a little
more luck. Caugt a real nice right that shouldered all the way thru the
inside. For about 15 minutes I got really lucky and hooked in to that one and
three other fast hollow lefts. On these i was able to pull in and drive a
ways before finally getting shut down. After that it just kind of stopped.
What did come thru was horribly closed out, or not breaking at all.

The beach has really changed. Early fall the slope was much steeper and the
alonshore shape was very flat and uniform. Every swell was breaking very
close to shore. After a few weeks of waves, the slope is much shallower and a
series of fairly uniform cusps has formed running for about 300 yards or so.

Finally, look at this pic from newport 56th st during the october south swell.
I merged two shots in photoshop.

its a big picture but only 64 k. The source photos are small and taken from a
long way away, i want to try this technique again with some clearer, closer up
shots, i think it could look cool.
