Craig is all-time, bring your drinking boots.

Shit I bet there would be more than a couple people that would show
you around.
Hope you enjoy the trip, awsome city, so much to see.
No need for a wetsuit also... just a buggie-holder.

Thanks Andy. Chi is my hometown as a kid, got a lot of family
surviving here and there.

I thought lake temps in early Nov dropped to low 50s....

I think that's supposed to be "budgie".

In the area with all the lakes.

50's hell is that not a warm day in Nor-Cal?

Cool! Anywhere near Waucanda? My grandpa built a cabin on the lake
there after the war, right next to Phil's beach with the big slide. It
was called something else then, though, two people, Phil and Flo or
something like that.

My jaw dropped when I saw the place on the Blues Brothers years
ago.

50s is fine. I'm not very enthusiastic about mid 40s.

Ha! I was going to mention Phil’s Beach Blues Brothers but I figured
that would be a bit obtuse. Drive south from your Grandpa’s place on
Rt 12, the next big lake is my old stomping ground.

Only went to Phil's once or twice, I could ride my bike to our lake so
it was easy. Nothing like a towel, fishing gear, and a long summer
day. I can still smell those lakes sometimes.

It was a very pretty area; does your family still have the lake house?

Another A.S. interconnection of sorts. Denny Waller had this posted
something a couple years ago.

Enjoy, I always liked that area.
Although I don’t know if I will ever go back and visit.

Grandpa sold place decades ago. He was a mean old bastard, used to
have a running feud with the owners at Phils. He put the cabin up, didn't
have a septic, so they'd use the heads at the resort. The resort
put a tall fence up to keep him and his kids out (my mom and uncles and
aunts
and cousins), my grandpa was constantly hauling in boulders and rock and
filling
in the lake to make his property bigger, and to be able to walk around
the fence.

In retaliation, the resort moved the heads right next to Grandpa's cabin
so that he'd have to smell them.

They mysteriously burned down one night, my mom told me she was
never sure....

I'm going to go check it out when I'm there, want some pics of anything
from the area?

Sounds like your Grandpa was a real piece of work.

That whole area has changed I don’t know if I would recognize much
anymore.

Mike,
Yes, I am still around. I haven't been on A.S. in a long time.
Rod has my email, I am not going to leave it on a group.
Just send your e-mail and tell me where you'll be and
I'll tip a few and/or make suggestions about some surfing around
here. We're having a big storm right now, it's a good time of
year for that.

My condolences.

Tell your daughter I saw Mallory in the water when she was down here
on Friday. She's the cute blonde SC city lifeguard. She was charging -
caught a whole bunch of good waves.

It was at my home break - BSing, of course. She started out on the
inside - in the shallows, but as the crowd thinned, she worked her way
to the peak. You know we don't see many ladies charging the reef, so
it's cool to see.

She gets around, then. B told me she was working Sunday, she was
giving aid to some guy who'd collapsed at the beach near the
pier when we were leaving breakfast there.
