Took a chance going to the North Shore. Impending unstable weather,
but I needed to stretch my legs. When I got there, the weather had
already turned with onshore winds swirling around and crumbling, messy
surf everywhere.
So I cruised the beach a bit. Chanced upon a tired Hawaiian monk seal
and kept a respectful distance while enjoying his lollygagging (sorry,
that's the first word that came to mind).
This elderly Japanese lady kept chatting me up, and we agreed that the
few surfers who braved the water were "kichigai" (crazy). Sorry, but I
had to join them (felt like a challenge), so I went it with my sponge.
Pipe was much smaller and wonky compared to the day before, but there
were still some pockets to enjoy. It was just me and a bodysurfer,
then a surfer joined in.
Went in early to get going on my honeydo list. Even though it wasn't
big and perfect, I still enjoyed the morning immensely.
