The Guidopalooza 2006 crew have been voted alt.surfing kooks of the
year for 2006!

In the first count, GP2K6 had 9 out of 18. Dropping the lowest
vote-getter (CyberKahuna) and counting the second choices of those
voters put Team GP2K6 over the top in the first round of instant runoff
voting. Foon was first runner up with 4 votes, and Siser Ho HUm (Nun of
the ABove) received 3.

Congratu-friggin-lations on your achievements, people! The widespread
perception that you all mishandled the AS Travelling Longboard, ate too
much, and surfed too little at this year's GP2K6 earn you all the
dubious distinction of being the biggest kooks of the year.
Late-breaking, unsubstantiated details of your antics were not enough
to sway a jury of your peers.

AWOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

There's been more kookage in the ASKOTY-2006 threads than there
was worth voting on for 2006. The kuk-fu toward the end
looked like the end of the movie Blazing Saddles.

Is it true what they say about longboarders?
Zzzzzzip!
Oh, it is true!

Well done voters. And well done to you SB for counting. Back to the
drawing boards my friends. Time to start planning for the 2007 awards.
What will it take? Perhaps taking a boat trip to Indy and getting too
sea-sick to surf perfect 6 footers that rolled through all week long.
Yeah, that's the ticket.

kudos to the supreme court for the vote thread which hit 159 posts.
not bad for a ng in demise.
the really beautiful thing about that thread was therein were a
plethora of kooky quotes.
kudos also to the investigative work of andy in debunking a yarn, as
smelly and rotten as they come.
as for rod's revisionist gp history attempt, that'll be his first entry
for 07 koty.
so much classic stuff in that thread that i must close with one of the
nuggetts:

from foon:

skippers reply:
It's called a SURFboard for a reason.
If it was a sponge, you could just wipe the counter with it, sign it
and
send it on it's way.

that's friggin entertainment!

It should be noted that the longboard has been the subject
of ASKOTY for the last three awards.

That's a VERY suspicious surfboard...first TEAM longboard,
then Todd, then the GP2K6 crew, that board needs to be
treated with the utmost respect until it gets back to Monterey.
