There must be something else being tested at the same time or another reason
for "fasting". TSH is sensitive to time of day, but not to dietary factors. If it is just TSH (why, by the way? since a measure of esp fT4 is far superior in thyroid testing land) rather than "fasting", a better guide would have been to suggest that you get the TSH test done always at the same time of day, and under the same conditions (such as BEFORE you take any thyroid hormones for the day) so that you are comparing apples with apples from test to test. Perhaps this was simply his way of saying that without actually saying it(??).
