Hi Candy
A thyroid storm is a dangerously high amount of active thyroid hormon in
the body which can if left untreated (or unrecognized) be fatal.
It is a rare disorder of hyperthyroidism which occurs in about 1-2% of
patients.

for more information.
Kindest regards,

Basically "thyroid storm" is a transient hyper- which
is hyper- hyper- or even hyper to the third power.

If the gland has been overproducing hormones
and then something triggers it to release all
its stored production at once . . .

OR by analogy --
hyper- is like a river overflowing its banks and
flooding, it can be a little flood or a big one, it
can happen gradually or fast.

thyroid storm is when Hoover Dam bursts (!!)
