Considering that I was originally planning to post or blog every day
on how the quit went, I think it is better handling things this way.
Having the flexibility to switch from one plan to another and finding
new mantras and mental exercises helps me stay where I am. Not
smoking.

I'm still amazed that I've gone this far, despite all the challenges
that have come up in my life, without lighting up a cigarette, or
putting on a patch, or grabbing a lozenge. Has it been easy? No. Has
it been worth it? Every minute. Will the cravings ever go away? No, as
long as I breathe, I will still have a problem with nicotine. I'll
just have longer and longer periods where I will forget that I ever
did smoke. And I'm glad that I still have this burden with me, it
definitely reinforces the 'I'm a work in progress' mindset which keeps
me going.

The daily struggles and realizations work internally on the nicotine
addiction, externally my actions are not hampered/harmed by the
effects of a plant. Sometimes when I look back, it seems to be a hazy
dream, the amount of money that I spent, the things I did when I was
without cigarettes... but I'm no longer that person.

It's been 700 days since I had my last cigarette. I could not have
done this without all of your support.

I'm still here,

Great post, Pearce! It really does get easier and more rewarding the
longer we stay smober. Thanks for sharing how it does.

I'm a bit late with the congratulations but here they are! As for the
extreme stresses that we face I think that phrase about that which
does not kill us only makes us stronger applies. That which does not
break a quit only makes it stronger.
Keep up the good work!

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end
of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."
