I quit smoking many years ago with much help from this newsgroup and now I'm
back again. After being quit for 6 years, I was stupid & thought I could
have "just one". I was wrong. I've been a full time smoker for about 8
years now, but I quit again... 3 days ago. I really don't remember what it
was like quitting before... did I block it out? Is what I'm feeling right
now normal, or as normal as one feels after not smoking for 3 days?
1. I sort of feel like I'm in a dreamstate, and not a particularilly nice
one. The cravings at this point aren't awful, but I just feel weird.
2. I'd swear I've got the flu. Coughing, sneezing and drowding in yuck &
muck.
3. Tired, tired, tired. I know I slept last night but I had the most vivid
dreams all night.... and again, not very nice ones. They were all different
versions of being somewhere and either not being able to get out, or not
being able to find where it was I needed to go. Weird, huh?
I know todays gonna be a little tougher. I never smoked that much at work,
I was too busy. Weekends have always been my smokefests. So I guess I'll
try to stay as busy as my poor tired body will let me.
God bless you all for being here! I'll be hangin' around. :)

Hello Ann,
welcome back home.
I had many quits before and didn't remember what it was like to quit.
Maybe thats why I wasn't careful when I picked up that one ciggarette
after a three year quit thinining I could have only one.
When I came back here I had to start all over again. Hell week...
I didn't have dreams about smoking. But I would wake up in the morning
and look forward to my cigarette and felt like I am dreaming. It felt
like my world had stoped.
Feeling tiered- oh I was tiered big time the first two weeks.
good work on your first three days. You will see it will get easier.

Congratulations.
You'll be back on dry land in no time.
What did you call yourself when you were here before.

Reminder: don't forget to let my inner child loose...
I am truely sorry that you had 'just one' and ended up back smoking
but I am glad you are back, and your story is the same as many others
of us who belived the Just One Lie. You have done this before and you
can do it again!

Lynn, you could be right about the patch, which I am using, causing the
weird dreams. I work a very early schedule that get's me out of bed by
3:15am. So not to disturb the whole household I take my showers before bed,
rather than in the morning, and... that's when I change the patches. I've
found the patches actually survive showering rather well, so I'm gonna start
putting new ones on in the early morning instead. As I've also found that
getting to sleep has been a challenge too, which I'll bet can be partially
attributable to a fresh patch.
Vitamins are also excellent advise, I'm sure. I hadn't really thought about
it, but I'm certain you are quite right.
thanks again,

Congrats, 3 Days is a major achievement! Your body has already made
some important and healthy changes!
I can relate to all of those things. I was in a crazy "brain fog" for
a couple days. And my nose was clogged for almost a week. Remember,
"withdrawal" is just a different way of saying "Recovery".
And welcome to the board. I saw your response to my "FMD" posting
(thank you). This board helps me tremendously...these folks are so
supportive. I feel like i can ask any question here. Stick around!
