Guess who's meter money is going into a savings account for him set up
by Mom? Tommy (who started Chantix today)

Outright bribe sent to Meg today saying I'd pay her her quit money on
a monthly basis to quit. Pointing out if that is six bucks a day on
smokes she saves that PLUS gets paid that much. A twelve dollar a day
deal.

I'm figuring this is the best investment I could make for them.

(I can count on their integrity here I'm sure of it. Francis and I
are going to cut down on greenies and L'il Ceasars)

Thanks for your support and advice

xoxo

I hope it works! Good for you, though.
If all else fails, bribery is a good option. :)

Bribes? What happened to good old fashioned spankings to get
yer kid to do what you want? <grin> Sheesh, yet another reason
for him to be pleased to have you as a mum. *big hug from Holland,
Robin.

That's why you are a Hero to me and I am so proud of you Stephanie.

It is a great way of helping Tomy and rewarding him for not smoking at the
same time.

You know I never spanked them.

Looking back there were junctures they needed some spanking.

I may reconsider my position on it not withstanding Tommy's 6'2"
frame .......

Oh I am not great at all. Look at the horrible example I set over the
years. I know it is why they smoke now ......

But I do appreciate the love and support.

If I can get them both to stop - through any means possible, buying
meds, patches, quit money bribes - I would be so incredibly happy and
feel like I'm doing a small part to make up for more horrendous
example (smoking and drinking too!)

I also realized: I sure as hell better stay quit! If I started
smoking that would be $6 per day PLUS the $6 I'm not 'saving" PLUS
paying kids $6 each potentially. I think I've done some funny math
through this but it just reinforces I better stay quit - however you
add it up!!!!!

I have an idea on how you feel. My oldest kid smokes, sometimes doesn't even
have the money to pay for them and I am not happy about it at all. But she
didn't grew up with me so the smoking part isn't from me. Contrary my little
one grew up with me and she doesn't smoke.

You are doing a great part of it cause you support them either way.
/me hopes too that the kids can stop smoking.

Had you spanked him hard enough he wouldn't have had the nerve
to grow up to be 6'2". <grin> You know I was kidding, I thought it
was sweet and hopes it helps him in his quit. Hehe, at 6'2" you'd have
to ask permission to spank him anyway.

That's what hubby did to convince our DD to quit. He told her he'd buy
her a brand new Mac Mini for her 1 year anniversary. She thought about
it for a while, and then when she found out I was going to quit come
January (2007), she beat me to the punch. We made good on the promise
last year at Christmas and she's very proud of herself and doesn't miss
smoking. :)

Oh thank you for this success story!

Tommy picked up Chantix subscription and is slated to quit next
(yikes) Monday.

Am as uptight and anxious for him I believe as I was for myself.

I've been scouring the archives for my worst rants to stockpile and
send to him on an as needed basis.

I will keep you updated!

Keep calm, Mom. I have no doubt that with you as his cheering section
he will do fine. BTDT.
My brother started smoking at about 17 and my parents told him that if
he quit and didn't smoke again until he was at least 21 they would
send him to Hawaii. He did, they did and he never started again. They
made me the same deal. :o(

Just make sure he eats lots of STARCHY foods when he takes his pills!
It really does help with the nausea.
