My quit attempts always seem to follow the same pattern. For about a
month, I feel euphoric to have escaped the smoking trap, but then this
euphoria wears off and I start to feel increasingly depressed and empty,
and this is when I'm in danger of getting into the "life is so shite
without cigarettes, might as well smoke and die younger" mode of thinking.

Does anyone relate to this? On the plus side, I'm at 8 weeks 3 days now,
and the incredibly heavy depression I've experienced for the last 3
weeks or so has begun to lift and I feel sort of all right.

It is a really tough one that JJ. You have my total respect for getting
through this far.

I read somewhere a statement something like:

All addictive behaviours are ulimately make your depression worse,
because they give you only the illusion that your needs are being satisfied.

It helped me

You are pining for an illusion.
Tobacco is not an anti-depressant and never will be.
You will continue to feel happy or depressed on occasions throughout
your life whether you smoke or not.
Please do not ever think or imagine that tobacco can make you feel
either happy or sad- it can do neither.
All it can ever do is make you ill.

Hi, Guys!

You just need to know what the effects need to wait after your quit smoking. Here http://www.asmoking.com/194-quit-smoking-effects-timeline.html for example is good timeline what to expect.

depression is one of side effects, but you can overcome it - just read allen karr ebook at http://www.asmoking.com/32-book-review-allan-car-easy-way-to-stop-smoking.html it will help you to create strong self-motivation and overcome depression. It worked for me, so it my personal experience.

Best Regards,
