Throw those pants away Lori!
Don't worry about hair it'll grow back and it'll be easier to comb now.
Throw the ground beef in the can with the pants and call DH to pick up
dinner on the way home.

Weird. My 5 year-old SS wants to wear pants 3 sizes too big. Once I left
for work earlier than DH who ended up taking SS to school. When both DH and
I went to pick him up, he was so excited to see both of us he came running
across the playground, pants falling to his knees. I grounded him from his
"baggy pants" for a week for wearing them when he knew he wasn't supposed
to.

Remember the mantra I'm trying to use:
In 100 years this all won't matter, it's how you play the game. They'll
love you just the same.....
Let me know if it works any better for you than it does for me. :)
The good news is that if you "loose" the pants in the laundry (as my mom
used to do a lot of), remember the little ones were trying to be helpful
and a short haircut goes a long way to remember not to ask a younger
sibling to cut your hair (made that mistake twice: when I was 10 and my
sister was 6 1/2. I asked again when I was 25...I figured that she
learned how to trim hair by then, I was wrong) Hair does grow back and
microwaves are cheap these days.
I'm thinking about visiting Margaritaville myself later this evening
once the kids are in bed.

I remember having this pj top that I liked to wear as a shirt. It really
just looked like a long-sleeved t-shirt and had a picture of a cat playing
tennis. The tennis ball was a white pom-pom.
It used to drive my mother nuts. She was always telling me to put real
clothes on and I was always sneaking it out of the house.
One day she came up behind me with a pair of scissors and cut it open, right
down the back.
I don't think I've *ever* been so angry with her in my entire life. It
still makes me angry, just to think about it! :-)
lil (who remembers second-hand, faded Holly Hobbie knock-offs, Army & Navy
shoes and too-small socks and underwear...and wonders if it would have
really killed her mother to allow her to have *something* kinda cool???)

I don't get along very well with my godmother. When I as 8, I
wanted my bangs long, long, long. If I shook my head a little,
they covered my eyes. I felt mysterious. When I went to visit
my godmother, she took me to a barber shop and had my bangs cut
very short. 35 years later and I can't let it go. I'm still
pissed.

Not caring is normal. She's a kid.
I wouldn't worry about her wearing pants with holes around the
crotch unless she's wearing them because they have holes there.
They're probably her favorites. Any way they can be patched or
rehabilitated for weekends?
I don't get into BD's clothes much at all. She's always had
strong opinions about her clothing. I figure this is a good
time to learn about style, color, etc.
The bra strap thing is driving me crazy, though. I think it is
incredibly tacky. In general, I can keep my mouth shut, but now
all her bra straps are gray or raggedly. She does her own
laundry. I go out and buy her new bras, but it doesn't solve
anything. She wears them for days then washes them with her
jeans. I'd get strapless bras, but I know she'd say, "but
everyone will think I don't have a bra on."
Is anyone else handling the bra strap thing with any success at
all?

Jane, you've said this to many people before:
this too shall pass.
We went through it with SD about a year ago. She would say "How do I
look?" And I would tell her that everything looked great except the bra
strap showing - that's just tacky. It didn't last too long. Neither did
the wearing of dark bras under light clothes.

I agree - they are probably her favourite. I've got quite a few pairs
of leggings that have split in the thigh area. I wear them around the
house when it's just me and SO here, because I like them. I've worn
them in. I had an ugly pink woolly jumper when I was a teenager. I
wore it around the house and out to the shops. I caught my Mum trying
to throw it out lots of times and I just snuck it back to my room when
she wasn't looking.

I have an idea for you.. :) I now prefer sports crop top things.
Simply because the straps never fall off my arms, and you can wear
them under things and not worry about anyone seeing them because they
look like you're wearing a tight fitting tank top. In case I have
explained that badly, here's a picture of one : :)
http://www.tomorrowsworld.com/undies/sportsbra.html
Another thing that I regularly do is - I've got this wonderful
Bikini. The top is sooo comfy that I wear it instead of a bra. I've
got another bikini that has a halter-neck top, and I wear that under
clothes, too.
At least with sports bras, you're not seeing *bra* straps as such.
And, depending on the material, it's harder to make them a different
colour - my white ones are still white, even after Mum washed them. :)
If you're worried about support for the breasts, well most of these
are designed for exactly that purpose, but you can always wear a real
bra underneath - the sports bra keeps the straps in place, and hide
them from the general public..
