Christmas cards and/or gifts. If you want one from Tamara or I, you need to
get your snail mail address (and favorite colour, for me) in to us PDQ.

<grin>
E-cards work for me! I must admit I'm big on sending cards out, but if I'm
lucky I *maybe* get 40% of the seventy-five or so back.
As I said to Kevin, it's generally the people I *only* hear from at
Christmas that get chucked off my list! :-)
lil (who must admit that she's maybe only chucked a half dozen people off
of her list in twelve years, and added at least fifty!)

Confession: I'm 42 and I still can't handle the xmas card
tradition. Until email came around, I was totally tortured and
guilt-ridden every year. E-cards I can do. If anyone is afraid
of getting on a spam list or just hates e-cards, let me know.

Uh oh. Michelle Geary? You want to field this?
If you can find a 'Happy Solstice' card? That'd be perfect! But truth be
told, I'm not a big holidays kind of girl (note to Anne: not ALL parents
want their kids for holidays -- some of us are indifferent to them, myself
and my folks included)
I'm Jewish, I guess. But did you see 'Deconstructing Harry'?

Well, I certainly didn't mean it as a slam and I'm sorry if it
came off that way
For me, all days are pretty much the same. Some days there's no
work or mail (which simply means they're like Sunday) and most
people I know are gathering with friends or family to eat. That's
okay by me. I don't do holidays because they've always been a
source of disappointment in my life. Even my bday -- which falls
on July 3 -- gets celebrated at another time because all my friends
are gone for the long weekend
It's not the occasions that matter to me -- it's the events. A
wedding. A graduation. An awards ceremony. I realize that for many,
Xmas and Easter are events (complete with presents or egg hunts)
and I respect that. I'm the one who always volunteers to work on
Xmas and Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve (and when I was working
at the New York Times, at least 1/4 of the staff had to work those
days just to produce the paper) because I *know* those days matter
to most people. On the other hand, I insist on not having to work
when an out-of-town friend is in just for the day
But I know I'm not alone. Some are so disgusted with just how
commercialized the holidays have become that they don't want to
leave the house between Halloween and Valentine's Day
You're ordering in pizza tomorrow -- I think that's great. We'll
probably do the same (we have the kids this year, but mom asked
for them and so they'll be with her). Maybe I'll find a new appreciation
for tradition and Special Days now that I have a kid of my own
Who knows?
-k. who didn't mean to pick any kind of fight over this, really
Yeah, where *is* Michelle, anyway?
jane
We're all sick. Just when I tried to take her up on her offer to watch
Max, too! But I'll let her know you're asking...
