This is an interesting article, but it really has less to do with
transsexuals than it does with those who are "transgender." Apparently,
this law does not require actual surgery to change a birth certificate, so
the changes are meaningless.

I especially find it interesting that they require a five year waiting
period before one can change it again.

This is becoming commonplace. Spain has already passed a similar law. They
too do not use the term "transgender" but refer to all trans people as
"transsexual".

Yes, several countries allow such changes. And a few people in the U.S.
have managed to con judges into making changes without having had full
surgery. Of course, in the U.S. anyone doing so would face possible fraud
charges. I doubt that will stop them, but it could cause major problems if
they ever get caught.

don't understand the role of judges in our legal system.
