Subject: ResMed Escape II broken
We had a power failure last night and when it came back my ResMed
Escape II CPAP was dead. I can't find the owners manual. I called my
DME provider and asked them if there was a reset switch and they don't
know.

Any Suggestions?

I don't have a direct answer, but it would seem to me that
there would not be a reset switch on the machine other than
the "ON" switch. Are you sure the circuit-breaker/fuse is
OK for the outlet the machine is plugged into? Do other
things (like a lamp) work on the same outlet? Are you using
a terminal strip with a surge-protector? If so, it may now
be the problem if there was a large current spike immediately
before the power failure. Will the DME lend you another
machine if yours needs repairs? Have you tried contacting
ResMed? Good luck with it (sleeping on an incline, head high,
may be OK if you must be without the machine).

Not that I can find nor that the DME knows of.

Yes, yes, and no.

I have an old RemStar I'm using in the meantime.

>Have you tried contacting ResMed?

No, my DME is looking into ordering a new ResMed.

It's not :-(

When this happens, the first thing to do is run the tests suggested,
light into the socket, try other outlet in the house and CHECK your fuse
(until a few years ago, our house had only one power circuit).

Then first thing business open you get ontothe phone to your DME and
organise repairs/replacement.

When my first Resmed cpap failed(burnt out direct into lungs), I was
immediately onto Resmed(as the repairer). They dispatched the loaner and
I dispatched mine for repair that very morning. Luckily, I knew the
local courier and had his number handy, so I caught the morning collection.

You may never need it, but pregathering this information and an annual
update to the action list may save you a lot of grief.

When you upgrade the first machine, keep it as a spare. I needed it when
the second Resmed had its failure.

The recliner chair method doesn't work for me either.
