Apply for legal aid. It is for ppl like you who need it, but can't
afford it. Also, if you have no funds coming in and have custody of
your kids, I'd suggest that you get food stamps to help feed them. No
shame in that. It's there for emergency purposes, too. Good luck. You
also need to have a paternity test done on the last child. If the child
is not yours, then you shouldn't have to support him/her. Again, good
luck.

You need another lawyer. I know you don't have any money, but you were robbed
blind by the lawyer you had. Before choosing another one, ask around. Ask your
divorced friends who they used. It isn't usually too hard to get ahold of the
name of a GOOD divorce lawyer. I don't know the laws where you are, but this
sounds like BS. You have had custody of the kids since Day 1 - what are YOU
paying support for? Even a second year law student could do a better job of
representing you than the shyster you had. And as for the third child - demand
a paternity test. If you hadn't even lived with her for four years, how on
earth can anybody believe that that child is yours? Even if you are desperate
for money, you NEED a good lawyer. That's the only way you are going to get out
of this mess and have any hope of reconstructing a financial base for yourself.

Were you served with notice of that suit? Did you contest the
paternity then (DNA testing?) and show that she had abandoned you and
your two daughters? Were you formally divorced at the time?
Possibly she lied to the court to get her judgment; that certainly can
be challenged.

There should be agencies who can help you with representation. By the
way, since she abandoned you and your daughters, why isn't she paying
child support?

My first response would be to go to your Prosecutor's Office or whoever
handle the child support in your state. You should be able to open a case up
with them for free. Who has custody now? Has it been court approved? If you
have custody and its court approved, I dont understand how you should have
to pay child support. SHE should be paying you. Its unfortunate to hear that
the lawyer ripped you off, BUT, that happens. Can I recommend a good yahoo
club to you? You could post your problems and concerns there and thats all
we talk about is child support and custody issues.

Dont let the name scare you off. We would love to have you join us there to
discuss this. There might be someone there from your state that can help you
too!
