Cool. :)
I wonder why they call is 5K when no one in the U.S. uses the metric system?

Runner-types have their pretenses.

It's because then you can brag to someone "I ran x kilometers." And in most
American minds kilometers are associated with about the same distance as a
mile, even though a kilometer is shorter; so they are more impressed. It's
all about being able to brag to your friends.

I absolutely had an incredibly awesome time... it was awesome to see all those
people doing something just because it was a good thing to do :)

This is excellent, and also great motivation for myself to get back in
shape. Last year I did a 10K 'Sun Run', which was an awesome
highlight of my life. I since slacked off and haven't exercised for 6
months, whereas previously I had been training at the gym. Now that I
have purchased a new gym membership there's no excuse.

Great to hear of your success!

We're adaptable, gra-gra, but you'll find us stubborn as well, so
don't get your hopes up :-) Lisa, races are 5K or 10K because nice
round numbers sound a lot better than "3 miles or so."

I guess. :)
That, and it sounds farther. Or is that further. Either way, sounds
longer.

Holy crap! I am honored to be in someone's signature. LOL you know I wasn't
even trying to write a tagline or something that would go on a bumper sticker.
This was totally natural. hehe
