I think the people in both groups are the same, but different ends of
the spectrum.

I would imagine that ask someone from alt.support.short if he would
rather be regular height or tall, the answer would be regular height.
Ask someone from alt.support.tall if they would rather be short or
regular, the answer again would be regular.

I would also imagine, if you asked similar questions in
alt.support.bignoses and alt.support.seventeentoes you would get
similar answers. At the end of the day, everyone wants to be normal....

I read that only 2 out 79 (i.e. 2.5%) of women (I'm assuming in the US)
would go out on a date with a man shorter than themselves (
http://www.cbc.ca/news/viewpoint/vp_binks/20031110.html ). Does anyone
know what percent of women in the US are married to men shorter than
themselves?

But I also bet if you asked a short person whether they would rather be
tall then short they would answer tall but if you asked a tall person
the same question they would prefer to stay tall.

As a tall person, I would rather be short. But ultimately, we can't
change what we are, and until we actually LIVE as the other, none of us
can really describe and appreciate the problems involved in each. (the
problems are different however, I do admit..)

Some time ago I saw a talk show with
really tall guys. They were all beyond
2 metres (6'7") and IIRC no one of them
had big problems in the dating game, the
way they are perceived or whatsoever.
The usual problems, for sure: clothes, small
doors, etc.
And IIRC none of them wanted to be
(considerably) smaller ...

Brad

PS: No, I don't think this talk show was representative
for all huge guys ...

You kidding me? Well, you could have a section of your thigh bones
taken out.

*Ouch*

Yes, I've had tall folks say they wish they could donate some of
their height to me but I think they meant painlessly and without
complications... as if by magic. Removing bone material or
lengthening just sounds too painful a procedure merely to get the
height you think you want when you can't be certain of the results
and how you'll feel about it.

Ok, that's *it*!!! I hereby refuse to bite ankles... I may be
convinced into elbowing someone in the groin but I'd have to be in a
pretty bad mood first.<g>

It's "gang up on average-sized people" week, hadn't you heard?

I was kidding. I'm sure there's more short people who want to be tall
than there are tall people who want to be short. I most certainly do
not recommend that procedure!

I *know*! :)

Me neither... I mean I could get my lower ribs removed cause they're
in the way but frankly it's just too risky to mess around with
bones. Chronic pain is bad enough as it is, I can't understand
risking such pain over looks alone but then as a female being short
isn't that horrific.
