Sigh. I was supposed to see my therapist Oct. 11th. I haven't seen
her since Aug. 17th. I had an appointment for Aug 29th but I had to
cancel because I was really sick. My next appointment was Oct. 11th
because she was going on vacation (to Hawaii). I usually see her
every two weeks. Well, she is back from Hawaii, but I got a call
yesterday from the mental health center that my Oct. 11th appointment
has to be canceled because her boss told her she has to go to a
training that day. There is nothing available before my next
appointment on Oct. 26th. That is two and a half months from when I
last saw her!!! And, there is a lot of stressful stuff going on in my
life right now.
I just found out my Uncle has cancer. He found out at his last
physical that he needs open heart surgery, and during the work up for
that discovered he has lung cancer. Yesterday, he had the testing
done for the cancer, and found out, thankfully that it hasn't spread
and is just one tiny spot on his lung. So, today he has his heart
surgery and in a month when he is recovered from that, he has surgery
to remove part or all of his lung, which should hopefully get rid of
all the cancer. So, that turned out as well as possible. There are
also lots of residents moving out right now. Just coincidences that
they are all moving out at the same time, nothing sinister or
anything. Some, I like and will really miss. Others, I am glad to
see go. (Like our biggest trouble maker). But, it is still a big loss
to have so many people leave, and I don't like loss.... Sigh.

I am on my therapist's call list, so if an appointment opens up, I can
get in earlier, but that doesn't happen very often. Oh well. I'll
just have to hang in there.

That's a very long time to wait. Is there any way your therapist
could fit in even some short phone sessions? While they wouldn't
take the place of a real session, it's got to be tough being
completely out of touch.

Sorry to hear about your uncle. Count me in for some healing
thoughts his way. That's got to be extra hard to handle with
your losses of all those people you live with. I know how even
the ones you don't really like come to feel like family, in that
you're all in the group together. I've felt it even with shorter
stay places like patients at hospitals. There's a void. But,
before you know it, new people come in and you feel each other
out and eventually you're a group again.

Best wishes for you and your uncle, Emily.

Thanks lisa. I doubt she could do phone sessions, since she doesn't
have any open slots at all. If she had an open slot, I'd be doing a
face to face session. (I only live about ten minutes from the mental
health center, and I have my own car). Sigh. Oh, well. Hopefully
there will be a cancellation, but if not, I'll see her on the 26th.
My uncle did well in his heart surgery, and was recovering well. He
was moved out of the CCU on Saturday, but early Sunday morning he was
moved back. I guess he may need a pace maker. He is now getting
frustrated/down (which is unusual for him), because I guess he wants
to get healed up from this ASAP so he can go on to have his lung
surgery . Sigh.
