I have a startup floppy with DOS 6.0 and various things like F-Disk on it.
However I discovered that the 2004 laptop computer had no floppy drive.
I have a WIN XP PRO disk of my own, but I'm not sure what would happen if I
tried to use it to restore operation to a disk with XP Home edition on it.
The main thing we want is the old files. The computer is expendable.
I made a backup about 1.5 years ago....
It is at a service center now. Hopefully, they can fix it without damaging
the data.
I have a legal copy of XP Home that's useless to me now and that I can
send you. If interested email me at durw...@hushmail.com.

I have previously tried to move the hard disk (when it had been working)
into a different model Sony laptop, but it would not run. Apparently Sony
has modified things from a generic WIN XP.
Thanks for trying.

I may want to try that. The computer is supposed to be done at the repair
center in two days. I'll see what we get back, first.
Hmmm. I might know someone locally that would have that disk. -maybe
Thanks,
QN
I'm sorry Miki, but I thought I kind of had dibs on this because you
offered it to me a while back when I had to go back to my old computer
which I have no Windows XP disk for...
I offered you a copy of my current XP, not my old one.
