Hello,

I'm not exactly new to pcos, but I'm only recently learning more about
my condition. When I was diagnosed with pcos I was only 13, and not
many ppl seemed to know a lot about it. At that age I didn't exactly
understand what was wrong with me. The worst part for me wasn't so much
the symptoms, but instead the side effects from the medication I was
taking. Birth control was the only option I was given and I had very
bad reactions to just about any type of bc that I tried. The worst was
the moodswings. I felt like I was going crazy, and no one seemed to
understand. I went to doctor after doctor and they all kept telling me
the same things. Finally, I stopped taking the pills because I wanted
to feel normal. I was told a year later that if I chose to stay off the
medication I would be giving the option of having children. At 15 I
wasn't ready to make that choice so I suffered through the side effects,
and at 21 am still suffering. Am I the only one with this problem.
Sometimes I feel like I am.

well, I am and was in the same boat as you are. I was only 15 and really didn't
care to learn about it. Now I am 20 and I finally decided to take charge, so I
totally understand how you feel.

Dear April,
Thank you, thank you, thank you! My doctor told me bcp were the only
way to go to. I was on them for years without any side effects. After being
off for two years and just recently going back on (6 months ago) I totally know
what you are talking about! I too feel like I am losing my mind! It is nice
to know that at least one other person is experiencing the same thing. No luck
in getting off - the doctor just keeps changing the type. I hope things get
better for you! Good luck! -Laurie
