I am new to this group, however, I certainly not new to having OCD. I
also think I have a tendency
towards having some scrupulosity. In addition to OCD, I have the
Bipolar Disorder, so I have a lot of fun with these illnesses.

I was wondering if anyone has ever used the exposure and reaction
treatment. About a month ago I discovered this therapy in a book I was
looking at a book when I was in a local used bookstore.
It is really simple to do: when you have an unwanted obsessive thought
vent it completely by writing in a notebook. I have a really little
notebook I carry around in my shirt pocket. Anyway, when I write out
the thought it transfers it to the paper. What writing it does so well
is it honestly puts your anxiety, caused by your thought, onto the the
paper. It works for me, so try it.

Hi Mugs, welcome to the group!
I'm not sure I've ever come across that trick before. Glad it helps. Not
really any use to me, because I don't get any obsessive thoughts as such, I
just have to do the compulsions anyway. (I know that's against the rules,
but I've come across a few people who have it the same way.)
Best wishes,
A. B.
