JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -
Two men posing as postal workers robbed three teenagers at gunpoint in a
north Jefferson County home on Tuesday, according to the Jefferson
County Sheriff's Office.
One of the suspects knocked on the door of a home in the 6500 block of
Telia Drive in an unincorporated part of Jefferson County between Pinson
and Clay. Three teens, ages 16, 17 and 18, were at home in the
residence. Their mother was away getting them something to eat when the
robbery happened around 2 p.m., Chief Deputy Randy Christian said in a
release.
The 17-year-old answered the door and saw a suspect dressed as a postal
worker, wearing a uniform shirt and gray pants. The suspect told the
teen he had a package to deliver and "motioned for a second black male
suspect to come from the van," Christian said.
Once the second suspect came to the doorway, he pulled out a handgun and
both suspects forced their way inside the home. The other suspect
grabbed a knife from the kitchen. The suspects forced the victims to lie
down on the ground while they stole cash, electronics and took the
victims' cell phones. No one was injured during the robbery.
Christian says the suspects got away in a white minivan driven by a
black female. Both suspects are described as black males between the
ages of 20 and 25. Anyone with information about this case is asked to
