Hi all

I'll try to make my story short.

My cycle has always been regularly 29 to 31 days, with 5 to 6 days of
flow.

The first change was in December 06 (at age 50 and 7mths) when I bled
for 25days of a 38 day cycle. A scan was done and a D&C followed to
remove a thickened endometrium. Pathology results came back normal.

Menstral life returned to normal until December 07 with a 58day cycle
(but a normal 5 day bleed). January08 and February 08 I was blessed
(not) with 21 and 33 days of bleeding respectively. I was put on
Primulot N for 3 months which regulated my hormones. The next two
periods were normal but now my body hormone are again disrupting my
life.

Gyne # 1 suggested a hysterectomy because I had fibroids. (no scan to
prove such).
Said I'd take the progesterone and see what happens.
Gyne # 2 - very good, did scan and pathology tests - everything fine
(note no fibroids), just hormonal imbalance. Suggested endometrial
ablation.
I found the fees expensive and if the procedure failed (which it
sometimes does) I would be back at square one with heavy bleeding.

Because I am deadset again hysterectomy, and do not wish to take
hormone tablets to control my problem I am now seriously considering a
Mirena coil.

I would appreciate hearing about any experiences group members may
have had with Mirena insertions. Does it require hospital admittance
or can it be done in a doctors office?

Jane
