Saw the doctor - nurse apparently went into overdrive when she gave me the
results over the phone (and said doctor wants to see you before prescribing for
the raised TSH, etc.) Doc sees no reason to be alarmed at 6.0 TSH count. A T4
was also done and is smack in the mid range. All the blood work was smack in
the mid range. I am smack in my mid range.

Meanwhile, however, the entryway project created in a defunct menomind is not
doing well. I now have four walls of painted wallpaper that do not appear
salvageable as a Faux Finish. Faux Pas' Supreme! At some point in the near
future I must strip the painted wallpaper, plus that in the adjoining stairway
and then totally redo the entire area, plus the upstairs hallway that adjoins
the stairway. (My next home will be one room, one floor.) The old wallpaper was
not right, but compared to what is now involved, it was The Perfect Choice! I
must have been totally bonkers when I decided to do this. But it's not my
thyroid! ;)

well, good! With all the medical mishaps folks in here seem to be
suffering just lately, it's good to hear from someone who *doesn't* have
a problem!

Um, if you want to email me about this, I may be able to give you some
suggestions for salvaging it without repapering ... After 30 years of
theatrical scene-painting, I can turn just about any mistake into
"texture"!

Or you could just remove all the lightbulbs in the affected area. (-;

> (My next home will be one room, one floor.)

*chuckle* I know the feeling. I'm still madly in love with the living
spaces in my new house, but the basement/garage area cleanup has brought
some surprises that I could live without. Nothing irreparable, but a few
"oh, HELL, that's going to take some work!" items.

Hey, sometimes it's good to know we're merely suffering from
garden-variety lapses in judgment.

Yay! Smack in the middle! Huge sighs of relief throughout the W&W. I'm glad your
thyroid is ok. Now, about those walls--maybe Pat K has some posters to lend you?

Susan tells us:>I now have four walls of painted wallpaper that do not appear

>salvageable as a Faux Finish. Faux Pas' Supreme! At some point in the near
>future I must strip the painted wallpaper,

Somehow these renovations never end.. and then as soon as the one area is
complete, it makes the next room look shabby.... anyway, a helpful hint about
removing that paper... now that it is saturated with paint it will come off
easier... the longer you allow it to dry the more difficult.. but the paint has
softened the adhesive, so now might be the time to remove it. Good luck!
Consider this a practice drill, you will be more confident about fauxing your
real walls. The best successes I have had with faux painting have been using
terry cloth rags ( you can buy a huge bag at Home Depot for $10 or wadded up
cellophane for a more patterned look)

susan...

just wanted to let you know that ( at
most labs...and i would like to say not all are the same!!!) a 6.0 tsh is not
really smack in the middle. A tsh of 5 is considered high (or very borderline
hypo normal)
I do believe that meno and the fluctuations in hormones...may temporarily drag
your thyroid down...and i can see why the dr doesnt want to jump the gun and
give you thyroid meds. MY OPINION ONLY...is to keep your dr CHECKING YOUR
THYOID(do another test in six months and its good to know what your levels
are..keep track of how you feel and what they are!)...if you feel symptoms of
fatigue, heavier periods, cold when others are hot, weight gain, etc. etc.
It may not be all in your meno mind ya know and thyroid causes racing mind and
mind fog as well!. When my tsh was 7 .... i couldnt think straight....and was
totally tired all the time....sooooo.
people feel different at different levels!
PS
My mother in law finally passed away....my husb gave her eulogy
yesterday....and totally lost it on the altar but carried on. Everyone in the
church was openly sobbing because of it...i thought he was going down...but he
swallowed it and finished. God gave him the strength to carry on, sometimes i
think he is such a whimp (as many men are) but when it comes down to the
important stuff...he was the strongest one of all. Today he is totally
depressed and sleeping..and i think the only thing that will cheer him up
is....you know what!!! But boy does he deserve it...gotta rouse and find my
men-0-libido! Let me know if you find mine anywhere!! LOL

Thank you Laura....It has been very sad here for quite some time. It was hard
to watch the toll it was taking especially on her husband, but I do believe
that it took so long for that very reason. He needed the time with her to even
believe it was happening. He always had hope and really thought she was just
going to wake up (he is a TOTALLY non medical person!!) and it took this length
of time for him to come to grips with it. God did know what he was doing for
his sake! He was Saint like at the hospital every day for two and a half months
for eight hours a day!
HE was a totally devout husband til the very end! : )

Well, put the second coat on the last panels today. Dimmed the lights. Thinking
of sponging or stenciling or ragging or using my little "Wall Magic" dual
roller. Or adding a lot of tall furniture. ;)

Have faux finished several bathrooms - a couple still have light bulbs in them
;). Now thinking of stripping the wallpaper up the stairway and painting that
the same white as the living room (other side of entry). Still have to figure
out how to build some scaffolding at the dogleg in the stairway. Tomorrow ...
and have two more chapters to read for the real estate class on Monday.

I didn't mean to infer that my TSH level of 6.0 was 'smack in the middle', just
the other blood tests. 6 is above the 5.1 mark, but not much. Several years ago
I had a TSH test and 6 was the high mark, so apparently the range has changed.
But I do intend to have it checked again in a few months. Definitely a good
idea.

Thanks for your info.

Can you use a stair to support one end of the scaffolding, or would that be
too short?

Marilee makes a suggestion for susan's stairway scaffolding dilemma

>Can you use a stair to support one end of the scaffolding, or would that be
>too short?

The stairway goes up 12 steps then make a 90 degree turn and up 2 steps. The
problem is the turn - there is a step that forms a triangle across the landing.
Makes it very difficult to arrange a ladder. But I'm going to order the new
Harry Potter book this week. Its 700+ pages should be thick enough to even out
the step and support a ladder. ;) You know, friends, it takes years to get this
creative!

Actually the mind has been working. I have two chairs in the living room that
have a large leaf pattern - sort of a banana leaf and a palm frond. Might use
those as a pattern for stencils to use in The Fauxed Up Entry. They are large
leaves so would cover large areas. duh!

Thanks furpaw....gotta keep remembering your
breathe in..... breathe out
i litterally have to tell myself to do that lately!
OBTW....for anyone that read my brothers saga as of late with the stalker guy
who stoned their house for no reason and broke down the front door... he is a
schitzo..please help me on the spelling...daaa
They begged me to come to the preliminary hearing...sooo...i sat in court with
my 16 yo and my brother and his wife and a woman from victims for violent
crime....unbelievable. It was truely an experience out of "NIGHT COURT" The
judge was singing
"See you in september" when someone was going to be held over for trial. i
thought...ok...at least they dont have a stuffed shirt ...but..
the grandmother of this kid (who is a polygraph specialits) had a word with the
judge before the trial. Meanwhile she begged the judge for his release into
her custody(where he was when this happened and evidently she wasnt making sure
he was taking his HALDOL!!!!!) Well...I must admit that i totally could not
believe it when she told the judge that they were not giving him his medication
in jail...CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT??? I found out it happens all the time!!!!!!
AND while we were waiting for our trial to come up...the kid who attacked my
brother started talking to the judge out of turn several times and they threw
him back in his cell. We had to wait til the last case was heard : (
Then...the judge heard the case and was going to release this potentially
dangerous mentally ill 18 yo back to his grandmother on 1500 bond...BUT...AS HE
WAS LEAVING THE COURTROOM...he took his handcuffed arms together and wapped
another inmate to the ground and he hit his head. The judge who had heard my
brother say that he FEARED FOR HIS LIFE AND OTHERS LIVES looked at my brother
and said 15 thousand straight bond...back you go!!
THANK GOD...they now will have at least four months of peace! They have fled
their home..living with someone else..never going back they say. It is a shame
that people these days cant get the proper mental health care that they need.
They are thrown out into the streets and then we have incidents like we did
here recently in Wilkinsburg where a man just went psycho and started shooting
people at drive through windows and right near me was the Baumhammer case where
he shot Indian people, Jewish people and Oriental people. All because of
mental health issues that were not treated. Tell ya what...from what i saw
this man will and can do that too and who would then be responsible???? Even
the public defender talked to me after the trial and said that the mother and
grandma are totally denying his mental state and this kid should me
institutionalized...BUT....our system doesnt keep them long enough for proper
care. What can we do????

mary p....breathing in ...and out
waiting patiently for the zest and my life to calm down!!! geeezzzz

Mary.. what a story! You too have had a little black cloud following you
around.. so sorry for all your troubles. The court story is unbelievable..
fortunatley the judge made the right decision.. I find it harder by the day to
have any faith in our judicial system.

martha...
you would not believe what my brother and his wife have been through with
initially six phone calls to 911 and no one willing to stay on the line with
them..they simply hung up...to...lost police reports!
They have had to write a signed statement of their own because the first police
report that did show up was so off from the first time they came. And the
second time when he threatened to "F__" my borther up hasnt been found since
June 12???? They even had this kid listed as the victim in the report!!! They
have had to be their own advocates and do their own investigating. Many missed
days of work and many negative emotions about the whole legal process and the
mental facilities. The cheif of police when asked what he would do...told them
to buy a gun and shoot him if he came back! Imagine???? It seems that this
same judge let a prisner out on bail just last week and today it was in the
paper that he committed murder two days after his release. My sister in law
states that the reagan administration...frowned upon keeping mentally ill
people institutionalized and started the main streaming into society thing.
But....just like regular hospitals with insurance issues...we are releasing
these people all too soon!!!!! and this is the type of kid that will definately
go on to make the papers...one way or another....and it BETTER NOT BE MY
BROTHER!!!
