Starting a new post here, other one is too long to add right now.
Seems a little tiff always perks us up.....
but I too check this NG daily and things are so slow, I figure you all are asleep or hibernating in the summer shade....
Remember folks, it is SUMMER TIME, and or what ever time... DON'T FORGET YOUR SUNBLOCK, SUN HAT, SUNSHIRT AND SUN PANTS.
Rit sunguard works good on jeans and Cabellan's new line of sun shirts are soft and resonably priced...bye on line is good.
Sizes are what you normall take in a shirt. LESS than some.
I did hear Walmart will eventually or has put out clothes that has some sun resistance in them? anyone hear that?

they are my favorites. Long sleeves, SPF30, passport zippered pocket,
wonderful soft microfiber cloth. Very cool! We purchased them at Sam's
Club for about $18.
I have many other shirts from "Travelsmith", "Columbia, "Cabellas" and
other makers which all cost more, much more.
These 'Natural Gear" shirts are currently available here in the Phoenix
area Sam's Clubs. This is the second time we have seen them there.
It would be nice if I could come up with something similar in a hat.
These straw hats are nice but in our weather (108F today) they get a bit
gamey from the sweat and they are not washable. Ideas anyone?

Forgot to mention the light weight nylon cargo/fishing trousers that I
find in the sporting goods stores. Also SPF30 and very cool. Prices
here around $20. They match my sunblocker shirts and I love the price!

After living all of these years in this desert it took Lupus to teach me
why covering up in the correct apparel is healthier and much cooler.
MUCH cooler! Watching the field workers and others who work outside here
they are usually covered as much as possible. And usually not with the
nice light weight clothing we wear, sometimes even flannel!
BTW, todays Cabella's ad is offering Long sleeve light weight nylon
fishing shirts with sun protection for $14.95.
Now to check out the hats Janers suggested.

Thanks for the suggestion. After finally getting to the Tilleys I am
impressed. Also surprised to find I already have two of these hats in
the "duck' fabric that were gifts. This fabric is too heavy for our
climate and the brims too small but there are many other candidates on
the amazon site.
Off to hat shopping as soon as I can walk again.

Try this site George; I got my MOTH one as he had pre cancerous lesions on
his 'balding' head... and the hats are light weight and a cool micro soft
fabric that is a high SPF as well... I got him the one with the ear and neck
protector and the long bill for fishing... he loves it!
See also that the prices are so much less than the Tilley hats... they are
Canadian, but they are so expensive lol; I am not loyal to them <g>!
anyhow.. see what you think..
Also Solumbra is another good alternative online and they send catalogues
for you to peruse via snail mail...

BTW, I removed the tags from my new "Natural Gear" Sam's club shirt
today and it says it is UPF40 rather than the 30 I mentioned before.

OK, I'm holding another of my new Natural Gear shirts in my hand and I
will give you the UPC code from it.
8 7744900643 2 is the UPC code.
NG-TS-900 is another number that may be the item number.
This particular shirt is "Desert" in color. Taupe maybe. They also come
in a green and blue.
One should be able to call WalMart in Arkansas and inquire about
availability.
The tag says they are distributed by:
Mahco, Inc.
Bentonville, AR 72712
This is also where Walmart & Sam's Club are headquartered.
We have found these shirts at Sam's twice now so maybe they are going to
be a standard product. I hope so, I love them!
Now, can anyone tell me if it is sinful to post a picture to a NG? It
seems it would be helpful when trying to describe things.

I have found that most of these lightweight nylon shirts with sun
protection are called "Fishing shirts" by the sellers. Also I have
found there is nylon and there is nylon. The soft luxurious fabric in
the Natural Gear shirts is nylon as are many others I have but they wick
better and look better. Cotton isn't as efficient for me cause I "sweat
real good". 8>)

That is what my husband likes about the coolibar hat we got for him
online... it is more of a microfiber/nylon feel, soft and light and very
much a good 'wicker' for the sweat.... and so light weight!
No cotton in it that I can detect, but possibly organic cotton... I have a
couple of sweaters made of that and it is not like the 'cotton' we know
normally, at all...
