It has been quite awhile since i have posted. Life has been hectic.
Thankfully I have been doing much better - no fevers, rashes and hives
pretty much gone, stomach problems gone - all that I have these days is
joint pain (mainly in hips, back, knees), fibro pain and fatigue (though
that is so much better as well). Plaquenil made a big difference, but I also
saw a big difference when I switched off of the birth control Yasmine to
Ortho-Tricyclin Lo. Then I improved even more when I went off birth control
all together. Has anyone else experienced symptoms coinciding with taking
birth control and improved when off? Also, does anyone know of a hormone
linkage to autoimmune diseases? My husband is convinced my issues are tied
to a hormonal imbalance (and partially blames the birth control) as my
symptoms are predictable in severity depending on where I am in my cycle and
what birth control I am taking. Thoughts??? Anyone heard of this?
Steph
My big flares are connected to my menstrual cycle. My pain doctor was not
surprised and most drs believe the connection. I am horribly ill the week
before I start.... then the week of.... it's horrible.
I do not use any hormonal birth control... I have a copper IUD.
to answer your question, yes, I believe our hormones are connected. Lupus
is mostly a woman's disease so those pesky hormones must play in somehow

Yes, Steph, I have. I switched to Ortho Lo. I have had a tubal, but
polycystic ovaries give me hell. I lost weight when I stopped, but wound up
in ER many times for shots. Those things are hell. I can not wait to get
them out of me.
Good luck,
V
