Wow! Very nice artwork! I bookmarked it. I'd love to see the artist's combined image of photophobia, double vision, fortification patterns, AND scintillating scotoma -- i get all four at once, plus my scintillating scotoma is far more COLOURFUL and complexly interlocking than the one shown. I wish i could paint what i see during aura; i'd send a picture to them to put on that page.
Hi Kristin. Thank you for sharing this Aura site. I suffer from aura, which some family members could never understand. Maybe after seeing these pictures, they might gain some insight! Jaye

Well, who knew? I have the photophobia all the time, migraine or not which I knew about, but I also have the micropsia - I just thought I had a big head. :) Red

I have a long list of visual disturbances, and like you Red, always light sensitive, day or night. But has anyone ever had this one? Sometimes I feel "REAL TALL" -- and I'm only five - two! I'll feel weird and tall, and walk into my kitchen and feel like my head is going to hit the ceiling and like I'm towering over the countertops. It's the craziest sensation. Would other people think we're all nuts??? Before you say I am, (or think it anyway - lol) I recently read something to this effect on a headache website and would have never believed it, had it not happened to me! Please, let us all get "AuraFree"!!! Jaye

That is the micropsia. If you had macropsia, you would feel like the furniture was huge. I have what you have -- the bigness - I am five feet even and it is quite a strange sensation to say the least. Red
I have both micropsia and macropsia (but not at the same time, obviously). I only get it occasionally just before I drift off to sleep. The feeling never happens during a migraine, only between migraines. Did you know that the scene where Alice (in Wonderland) drinks the potions and gets bigger and smaller is supposed to be because the author suffered from migraines and was just describing his own sensations?

Oh...I actually think I did read that at one time, but forgot it.....it does make sense though.

Well Starbug I suppose depending on the situation, either one of those syndromes would be an asset (or liability) reminds me of the time while on a date..........never mind.....forget that part....hmm Red

Ha Ha! You're just too much, Red! Thanks for being you.

I only think of myself as short when I can't get the cereal off the top shelf in the grocery store and I am now past the age where virile young stock boys offer to help... :( so sad.... But when experiencing the micropsia I keep feeling like I need to duck to avoid hitting my head (which is usually already aching) Red

Wow! I never knew there wre names for those sensations. I thought I was just nuts (heh heh - the jury's still out on that one). I've never said anything to the dr's because I thought it was my imagination.... Hmmmm.... I only get the micropsia... It's weird.... wow it's real! I'm not that crazy (note: "that").
I tend to get the macropsia. The hall ways at University see huge and really long, whereas on normal days they actually feel like their closing in (I think I've been here too long :) ).
I'm about six foot. I think its neat how it seems that shorter people get the micropsia and taller are getting the macropsia.

I'm just shy of 6' and I'd have to say there I tend to go after petite women. 2 out of 3 of the girlfriends I've had have only come up to my chin. I don't know what it is, but there's something about a tiny women that makes me take notice ;)

Heh, I was always fascinated by that story. Dunno, some how makes me feel better that a famous writer suffered from migraine but used his experiences for literary inspiration! So, do you think the Chesire Cat that would disappear except his grin, was based on an aura?? He always seems to "float" around...hmm.

YES! You are absolutely right! I had forgotten about that part. That's exactly what scholars now think. And the bit about the Queen of Hearts yelling "off with her head!" was probably just wishful thinking on the author's part. We've all had days where we wish someone would cut our heads off.
Warm hugs, Starbug (who is now beginning to resemble both Tweedledee and Tweedledum).
