I've always suffered from migraine (I'm 27). But after having my son (2 years ago) I now also get headaches virtually every day. Sometimes they're mild, sometimes they're bad migraines. I've tried everything, the latest being beta blockers. The most effective tablets are Kapake (strong paracetamol and codeine) and Zomig. I get through about 100 tablets per month. I've just started taking feverfew but its too early to say if they're helping.
I'm sure the cause for my headaches in the last 2 years is hormonal imbalance and low blood sugar (I have to eat all the time). Almost anything seems to trigger a headache.
Please help, my consultant has no more suggestions for me.
Amanda, Yesterday I felt as you so desprate that anything sounded better than another day of head pain. But, I remembered somthing my 7 year old said to me and that is tomorrow is a new day and she is righ tit is and things look a little brighter. My point is that I know I have to keep on looking for ways to stop this cycle but just checking in here daily is a hope something new might pop up just a thought hang in there. KIM
Amanda, Welcome to the group. Sorry you need to be here but hopefully you can get some good information here. There are more than a few of us here with CDH. It might help to tell us what you've tried so far. Have you ever tried any combo of meds, like anti-depressants along with beta blockers or NSAIDS, etc?

Amanda, If your migraines are due to hormones, check out the book "Screaming to be Heard" by Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet. She has some interesting information in there that might help you or your doctor in treating your headaches. I was in the same boat your in and mine are definently aggrevated by hormone levels. The trick is finding the correct balance. Good luck, I hope this helps. Cynthia

Suggest that you try skin temperature biofeedback-- hypnosis is another good option. I have been getting 70-80% cure rates with migraine using a combination. Acupuncture is another option for pain relief but I have no experience with it. Ask around for a biofeedback practitioner- best place would be an academic institution.
For hypnosis write to off...@erickson-foundation.org - for a ref in your area. Be careful about who you choose. The foundation should be able to put you in touch with a competent hypnotherapist. ask if they someone who is also good with biofeedback.
Bringing up a small child can be stressful and your doctor could consider trying an anti-depressant. The aim should be to get of all medication as soon as possible. It is unfortunate that the non drug approaches that have been scientifically validated are not more popular.

Believe it or not, a large part of the recent HA seminar held in Palm Springs addressed the value of alternative medicine and approaches. Specialist from all over are now starting to recognize the value in alternatives when it comes to dealing with HA's. The medical community has done a 180 degree turn on this subject. Although alternative therapies have not helped me, I do appreciate the benefits some sufferers have experienced.
I personally believe good *medical* care in conjunction with chiropratic, B2, etc. is the wave of the future.
