I'm not a betting man but I would bet my bottom dollar
that Joe Paterno knew -- back in the late 1990s -- that
Jerry Sandusky was a pedophile.

Probably never in the history of History has a boss told
an assistant of 30 years that he will NOT be his successor.
for the top job, as Paterno allegedly told Sandusky back
in the late 1990s.

There would be NO REASON to do so, unless you wanted
the assistant to quit or retire.

Under normal conditions -- even IF an assistant asked
about his future -- the conventional answer would be
to beat around the bush and avoid an outright Yes or No.
You'd NEVER tell him he wouldn't be your successor.

But it appears rather obvious that Joe Paterno did what he
had to do for ONE very good reason.

He undoubtedly was well aware that Sandusky was roaming
free while sexually molesting boys and had to get him out of
the picture.

He had no alternative to do so because, if the truth ever
emerged, it could -- and would -- cause terrible embarassment
and great pain to Paterno and Penn State's saintly image.

Eventually, Sandusky departed Penn State's football team
-- at an when, under normal conditions, only a moron would
do (unless forced out),

Ironically, right around that time, Penn State tried to peddle
the pervert off to a different "diocese" -- to the university's
Altoona campus -- where an attempt was made to have him
put in charge of an expanded football program there (and get
him the hell away from Penn State Proper.).

We have to applaud the publisher, the editor and the
reporters at the Altoona Mirror for having the guts to publish
much of what you're reading here. (Sadly, integrity and
courage have become a disappearing art in newspapers
these days.)

As for all of the concocted interviews Paterno has allowed
since he was fired -- like the crappy fluff piece in the Washington
Post the other day -- there seems to be one question that Good
Ol' Joe hasn't yet been asked -- which is why we still don't
know the answer.
