If it is so good, why do you need to keep repeating it? It means that you
aren't convinced --really. All marriages have their ups and downs. I am
not against gay marriage if it suits the parties. Criticizing heterosexual
marriage doesn't necessarily mean that gay marriage is the answer. I am
happily married to a woman. We have our fights, and several times I have
wanted to clear out, but we are still together. I don't want gay marriage
to be the preferred marriage, only on a level. There have been some strong
gay and lesbian marriages, and I wouldn't want to take it away from them.

I am against the idea that one can choose one's sex and be one or the other
at will. Gender identity is important for a balanced development. People
who grow up with strong same-sex friendships make the best marriage
partners. A man lost his father when he was very young. When he married he
said "I just don't know how to be a father." He wouldn't have learned how
to be a husband, either. I wonder if the number of single-parent families
is behind the drive for same-sex relationships, but you prejudiced types
don't like reasons. A guy on a psychology newsgroup wanted to change from a
Type A to a Type B personality. He was "sure it could be done." He was
told that it was impossible. He had struck one of the limits on "nowadays,
anything is possible." Change of gender is another.

The question of gay marriage being on a level with hetero marriage has legal
and social issues. Social acceptance will take time. In Australia,
marriage is a federal matter. The Australian Constitution probably doesn't
permit gay marriage, but the States can do it, as in the U.S. and at least
one State has, only they can't call it marriage. That law provides for
registration only, with no change of legal status or property rights.

I think the Catholic Church produces tremendous people, but to be at the
top, or anybody in the Church, you have to leave the continuation of the
species to others, who are by definition, "inferior." This guy is the same.
It doesn't add up, in either case.

Doug.

Why don't you try a marriage for one? It happens all the time on
Ancestry.com's database!
