Then my 21 yr old manipulative daughter went on my health newsgroup and
personally attacked me ... for which I had to write a OPEN APOLIGY to all there
... and then slammed my email box with nasty emails ....... (she has ADHD ...
and not on meds ... and is currently on daddy's sweet little girl list ...)
Then X called me up harrassing me ... saying what did I say to 15 yr old son
... I told him HAPPY BIRTHDAY and son told me his mom is dead ... and I told
him that is a heartless thing to say ... and very cruel ....
And the last, I get a phone call from my brother saying that my mom was in a
car accident .. car is totalled ... mom is in the hospital getting checked out
... she stopped behind a truck at a red light .. and a jerk behind her didn't
... She is fairly okay ........... Just a few cuts, scratches, and possible
whip lash .......... they did have to sedate her as she was really upset
Now .......... its 10 pm, I hope that the rest of the night goes peacefully

HA HA that's how it used to be for me too.. Now I just pray I have ONE day
where all hell DOESN't Break lose!
I swear there is something up in the universe around now.
I have had a hellish weekend and so many of my friends said the same
thing.
In my case, I feel pretty hellish and I don't have a terribly good
reason why.
I am not sure what triggered this. It's odd...I was actually really
ANGRY at the
weekend for some unclear reason. Angry at my EX for letting it all go.
Ya know?
Whatever, I am rambling. I just felt like adding to the thread....
I hope your days get better...you two.
Take care,
Thea

Actually, had the week from hell, and I think it bottomed oput this
morning.
I received notice from the Secretary of State's office that because I am
behind on child support (gee, I was ahead until a recent "retroactive
assessment"...) I was to turn in the title to my automobile. Assholes.
My car needed work for inspection, and my regular garage guy couldn't
get to it (brakes, tires and some other little stuff) so I have been
driving around with expired inspection sticker, ummmm... taking the
"long way" around when there are cops ahead.
Then Thursday I got notification of a registered letter from my landlord
to be picked up at the post office. I have *never* gotten good news in a
registered letter, so I will just have to pick it up if I have time.
Then, Saturday I went to the Franchised Yellow Auto Repair Place and
they told me they could fix my brakes for $950.
Bummer. I stayed in Sunday, there seemed *no* point in leaving the
house.
Anyway, I woke up early today to get my car to my car guy in the town
where I work, and I called his shop on the way over at 8am, and he said
there was no way he could get to me today.
So, I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do - looks like I might
have to take a day off from work and get the thing fixed in the town I
live in. The problem with a 4 hour RT commute is that either my car is
running, or I'm not doing anything. Leaving the car overnight is not an
option.
Then I got a flat tire.
Anyway, I was able to pull into a parking lot where I could work on the
tire, and the business there had a screwdriver I could use to get the
hubcap locking thingie off, so I after that, the little donut tire went
on with out a hitch. I was worried that a cop might stop and "help" me,
I'd have to argue about the inspection thingie with him.
Got going, and pulled into a little auto repair shop about 10 miles from
my work, the guy pulled my brakes apart, and said he could relace the
pads and rotor for a quarter of what FYARP could, so, though's I taking
a chance, I things might be looking a little better.
Then in my mail today, I got a small payment from on a receivable that I
have been sending statements on for the last three years, and I thought
I would never see a penny on.
So, as of 8:30 EST this morning, I think things have been improving.

If a person is merely behind but paying anything how can grabbing the
title to their auto help the situation? What do they do with those
titles anyhow ... sell the car?

Holy Pussycats ... what the heck kind of brakes do you have on that
thing? If all you need are pads and shoes (and turning of the rotors
and drums) this is so far out of line it is not funny. Perhaps you
may want to pick up a Chiltons and do the work yourself on the brakes.

Um, maybe you do need those new tires? Do you have a Pep Boys in
your neck of the woods? Cooper makes their Futura line of tires ...
good quality at fair prices.

At least the space saver was not flat ... few people check the air
pressure in that hidden little thing. Often it is worthless when
called upon to perform.

Aha .. you went past the wear indicator and scored the rotors huh?

It would be just like that guy who made the small payment to want some
additional service now ... beware!

Got me. I thought the "assholes" part said it all.

Well, they gave me the Franchised Yellow Auto Repair Place rap about
leaky cylanders, all new pads, all new rotors, frozen calipers and
broken brake lines. Then tried to scare me by saying if the didn't do
the whole $950 worth of work, that it wouldn't be "safe".
You know I told Donna that I was going to the FYARP and she recited the
rap verbatim to me before they even looked at my car.

:-) Firestones anyone? I can get you a good deal on those cheap.
Actually I just paid $41 per tire for the exact tires the last guy sold
me for $68 a piece. And, yes, they are 40,000 mile tires - and I got
almost exactly 40,000 miles out of them. Which for me is about a year's
driving. Love to have a good set of Michelins, but I'd be surprised if
my car lasted that long. Should hit 200k this summer.

Right. No good having the rubber there if the thing is limp and flaccid.

Oh, yeah. The rotor was *gone*. No grinding would have saved that baby.
The remaining metal was about a 1/16 of an inch think, and starting to
crumble.
And I got new pads, rotor and 3 tires for less then a third of what
FYARP wanted just for the brake job. Seems OK, too. A little howling
sound on hard left turns, though....

haahaa. Actually, my person sending out the statements has been a little
more aggressive as far as following up addresses, etc.
Not that I get to *keep* any of the money I collect, though...

Maybe you should have gotten Donna to do the work for you, after all the
help you gave her on fixing your computer...

I started out pretty good, I installed a sound card on her computer so
she could listen to CDs and MP3s, but things went downhill from there. I
was *not* able to fix her computer the last time. I am bummed out about
that, and feel guilty.

Well, got my registered letter from my landlord - a 30 day notice to
quit the premise. Sucks, but there you go. I thought I would get a break
after finishing the divorce from hell, but now I am boning up on
fighting eviction procedures. Man, at least I got brakes on my car.
I think "they" are winning the War Against Fathers. Where do I go to

Hey Rog ... in my part of Central Florida we need all the rain we can
get. Before the rains finally came we were down over 30 inches in
the past two years around here. Maybe the rivers and creeks will
finally get enough water so a canoe can make it through without
scraping the bottom? Sure is nice not to hear fire reports all the
time too!
Now Mondays ... who can disagree with that?

Ahhh... but you know what ol' Piebald Plato says about that... "For
thousands of years coyotes have howled at the moon . . . still no

I'm in for the group hug. {{{{{{{Thomas}}}}}}}
But I draw the line at the *smooch*. Sorry Fido, you will just have to
collect double from Donna on the kisses.

Well, that was kind of what I was hinting at, figuring you would pick up
on my super-subtle humor as always. I guess, what with all the stress
you're dealing with, it snuck in under even Fido's keen radar.

Hmm...any way you can get yourself thrown in the pokey, like my ex did?
'Course, it didn't do him much good, 'cause he posted bond to get out, and
then the bond got turned over to me during the hearing as partial payment
toward his back CS (this whole mess, I want to point out, did not result
from my pursuing that back CS in any way, but rather from his initial
attempt to get his CS reduced, which the judge scoffed at). He called me
some bad names. Now, if he'd had the sense to just stay in on work
release instead of posting bond, he'd be paying $12/day for room, board,
free clothing, access to a nice gym, etc., still could keep his job, and
wouldn't be owing his friends $1,000 now ('course, he'd still ow *me* the
thousand bucks, but he could just take his merry little time paying it at
the $50/mo rate the judge ordered paid on arrearages).
What are you talking about? Stress? What stress?
This is nothing. Hey, I eat stress for breakfast. I love stress. Bring
it on, baby, I can handle it.
And radar? What radar? I don't have any radar. What is that about?

I think you are supposed to be over on alt.support.divorce.add; I was
headed over that direction myself about an hour ago, but then i got too
busy looking for cheap plane tickets to Albany, NY, and the time got away
from me, and ... you know the drill.
Really? Albany? What a coincidence. I was just in Albany.
Saw a free blues festival on the plaza by the "egg" and also caught Paul

Actually saw Art Garfunkel with The Houston Symphony sing "Sounds of Silence"
last week.....I''ve just always loved his voice.
I know Paul Simon is a tremendous songwriter but Garfunkel and that
voice...man, he just made me shiver when I heard him sing. Plus, he used to
act so he had a pretty funny patter going on. Shame he and Simon don't get
