It seems that a.s.d. is dead. It is shocking to see how rapidly internet culture can change. Just a few years ago this group was still at the level of several hundred posts per month. But now -- just a couple of dozen posts in the last 3 months with none in the last 2 weeks.

I probably won't post anymore - so I want to take the opportunity to thank anybody who is still reading for all of the help that they have provided over the years.

This truly was a special place for over a decade -- which is an eternity in the online world.

Yes, it is very sad to see that asd is probably gone. :(

I don't plan on leaving though. I check every day and try to post
regularly. Asd is such an important part of my life, I can't imagine
being without it.

That said, thanks for saying 'goodbye'. I wish more people would do
this and not just leave. Well, really I wish people wouldn't leave,
but if they are going to. It's nice to know it.

Our posting frequency hasn't gone down. But it's somewhat sad others
have "caught up". :/

Perhaps they're in the same boat with us: too busy to check in every
week or simply without much to say.

Ah, well. If there's anywhere on the internet like asdis we haven't
found it.

What I'd like to know is where did everyone go? For as useful as asd
has always been, I'd figure people still have that need and have to
get that need met somehow. So, what's going on? Are there other sites?
Easier to get to? Is it really just that difficult to get to asd now?
What the heck is going on?

maybe it'll be a start if we all try to write whenever it's possible? we
can check every day and will try to write as much as we can. doesn't
mean much as we might get lost in our own writing on the way ... yet ..

I know that I have been on again off again. I wish I could find a way to
be more regular, as even when I don't post I check in frequently. Also,
ASDiss has been a haven for me in extremely difficult times of my life.
I will continue to check in, and hope that I can somehow be somewhat
more regular in my posting. Thanks for taking the time to say goodbye.

Dearest friends,

I've not forgotten you all. I never will. I'm "missing" only because I can't read newsgroups with any kind of reliable
consistency anymore. All I can use is groups.google.com. (I'll never forgive them for wrecking dejanews :( ) But I think
of you all often.

I've spent a lot of time since I've posted on asd living in a nice Steampunk community on SecondLife. Almost no one
knows there that I am multiple. It's very nice being me without having to explain anything to people. And it's wonderful
being someplace without the others (Luthe and the Leutenant don't ever go there.)

But I do miss you all awfully much.

hi there

it seems writing regular here on asdis is something many people would
like to be able but cannot - the usses definitely included. so ... we
are thinking: maybe regular is overrated? as often as possible or even
whenever one (or many ;-) feel(s) like it would do?
We sure hope asdis is not yet dead as it has been a seafe and helpful
place for many and a place to find real friends for us, too

I am ok with not regular, but what worries me is if there aren't
regular postings people will stop checking in :P I do it every time I
check my email. It is just my habit, check and reply to emails, check
and reply to asd.

We are doing very well. I thought of Luthe quite a bit this past year,
mostly because there were lots of f*res in our area. Weird reason to
think of someone...

My business is doing very well and
I have a lot of clients. This means _I_ have to do a lot of physical
labor so I am in really good physical shape again :) Both kids are
much more grown up and independent so I am getting my life back that
way as well. And my SO continues to 'sort of' work on the house and
'fix' our computers on a regular basis *sigh* At least he is happy...
*wry grin*

You knew we had to quit temporarily? Well that temporarily turned into forever. We got sick a couple of years ago, we
got graves disease. Turned out we'd had it forever. That's why we only got two to three hours of sleep a night (I
thought it was because we were multiple). And it explains why I'm manic without the "-depressive" half. It got so bad
three years ago we lost 30 pounds. We were walking down the street getting some fresh air and a neighbour said, "Luthe,
go inside your house. You look like a heroine addict!" They were trying to be nice...don't get the wrong idea. They
burned out our thyroid and we're almost all better. Except moodier then ever and easily exhausted. Its the easily
exhausted part that's keeping us from going back to the fire department. The Leutenant is very dissapointed, so is
Luthe. I can't say I'm too terribly. I loved it but it was too hard being part of the department family. I would abreact
stupidly every drill. That part never got any better. I tried even the Leutenant's patience.

Life changes.

nicky! How wonderful to see you posting!

I haven't been in SL as much lately, although I recently did have to
relocate from Caledon Dundee to Caledon Stormholm when Desmond Shang
(Caledon's Governor) decided he needed to close down Caledon Dundee.
That relocation meant I had hours of fun setting up my new space. I
don't do breedables anymore, but I do have a turkey who wanders my
garden and an owl who perches on the corner of my roof.

Apologies to non-Second Lifers for that bit of in-talk!

lots of times, we go blank if we try to talk about "important" or
"deep" stuff. think it drives our t nutz, tho she does her best to
remember it's the dissociation and tries not to get frustrated.

Can I say I've had a very trying, and expensive, week but somehow I'm
not curled up on the floor, which might encourage me if I were
encouragable? Because I just did.

Partly I'm convinced I'm the most boring person. Partly we're so
compartmentalized. There's so much in even our lives we don't discuss.
What does that leave? :/

Sorry. I was riffing on your sarcasm by joking that because you can't
relate and don't know what it's like I could explain for you.
(scratches head) Makes even less sense now I think upon it.

I don't know if I know how you feel or not. I do know how to not talk

Hmm...

I'm reluctant to discuss my hobbies or work because people might judge
me. According to our old rules they're not appropriate.

I had a great last two days with my SO. I roped hir into one of my
hobbies (the exercise one) and it's great.

We don't want to connect. Connecting means getting h*rt.

easiest to talk about us by coming at it sideways

I like your attitude! :) Much more productive than hyperventilating.

Now I'm reminded I need to go buy superglue. Yes, that kind of
expensive week.

I'd hoped our week would improve after the low point mid-week. It
really did. Drastically. We still have the expensive breakage to deal
with but even that seems more manageable and less scream-inducing and
frustrating.

Maybe the improvement's partly due to being so convinced it'd occur
that I selectively pointed out any positive events for proof. Maybe
not.

it can, yes
it has lots

discovered that when we're really really careful in who we pick to try
to connect with, then getting hurt isn't guaranteed. and connecting can
happen at a whole variety of different levels or intensities with
different people.

that's actually been a pretty amazing discovery.

Probably the main one. "No gender-inappropriate activities!!!" Pretty
important rule.

We think it is. "Everyone wants to h*rt you," or so the old saying
goes. We know it's not literally true. Probably like 99%.

Sounds amazing.

We can do surface-level connecting with some people. Eventually it
gets harder and harder finding stuff to discuss because we're boring
and/or my mind goes totally blank.

Maybe.

However.

It's been so so so long and when I close my eyes often I'm still right
back there.

Everything I do I still evaluate whether it's dangerous due to their
reasons. So many funny stories (and some "funny" ones). I don't even
know how I'd try stopping.
Mine are. That's because consequences in my head are, too.

Haven't posted here in over a year, I think. I do pop in once in a while but it has gotten so difficult for me to do much between my "stroke brain" that makes it hard to remember what I had for lunch, my failing eyesight and inability to sit at the desk for very long due to circulation problems in my legs. This place has truly been a life saver for me for over a dozen years and I would hate to see it fold! I hope all is as well as can be for everyone! I will try to stop in and post a "ping" or more at least once a week when I am able. The idea that someone might have heard about this place or may have been here long ago and now find a need to be here again and find it not in existence makes me feel very sad!

Sometimes seems like everything's being pushed that way. Don't know
why so many people think it works so well. Scary. :(

I feel bad, now! I just sort of... vaguely wandered out, because my interest patterns are like that with most everything, and I lose interest and wander off to somewhere else. (I do often eventually wander back, though! ...But it's been a rather long time, hasn't it.)

I've mostly been on Tumblr, since. I'm friends with a handful of lovely systems, a couple of whom plans are in the works to live with! But other multiplicity communities are... different. Not better, not worse, but very different.

But it's nice to be understood and not have to explain about things.

yes. supposed to be to help them be more profitable, but our branch is
now less "profitable" because we are doing things the corporate way.
