This is a big one - a big, wonderful one! We have been practicing for
an upcoming performance of our demonstration team. We have gone on
recently from breaking wood to breaking other substances. A few weeks
ago, I broke a brick with my palm. Yesterday, though, was the huge
payoff. First, I broke a concrete garden block (20" long w/a scalloped
edge) - and it was so easy for me that I did two - and that was so easy
that I am going to try three and then four. I am sure I can do three,
and maybe even as many as five - oh, I hope so!!!!! I did bandage up my
elbow and upper arm with elastic bandages so as not to injure that elbow
again. The heel of my palm is completely black and blue, but not esp.
sore - and that will cure up in a day or so - it didn't hurt to break,
it just takes some conditioning of the palm. I am so excited. And I
was so proud, and my teacher was happy for me. And then - I was the
first one to break a bottle - hitting palm down against the mouth while
holding the neck with the other hand - and if you hit it hard enough,
you blow the bottom out of the bottle! What a rush. And my teacher was
really happy for me then, too. And - one more thing - and because I
mention bl*des, I'll spoiler, though it doesn't concern SI or anything
at all -

We are learning to through knives in karate - just the black belts and
me. It is so much fun - but I am not good at it at all - I've never
been a very good arm for throwing. But the first knife I threw stuck,
so that was pretty great. The others missed, though. Lots of
practicing to do. But such joy as things develop to practice on. I get
so excited w/each segment of victory. Love to feel that power surge.
Wishing all the best -
Beauty.
I'm so happy for you!
I know exactly how those little victories build up over
time, and each one is fantastic, then ya look back at some
point, and are stunned at how far y've come, and how ya
never thought you'd get there.
I do that sorta kinda in reverse with my voice students,
thought their successes feel like they are mine. My
"completely tone-deaf bass", whom I started working with in
December, has gone from not being able to sing any notes
correctly (literally. 'twas a big struggle getting him
anywheres near a correct pitch, then when I did, he had
maybe half an octave that he could sing, because he..oh,
i'll skip the technical stuff.) to being able to sing on his
own across a 2 octave range, and be able to hit individual
random notes played on a piano (as in, I play a note; he
sings it correctly, which is really difficult for some
folk.) I'm just pleased as punch that he's doing so well.
His confidence has increased, his speaking voice is so much
more alive than it's probably ever been in his life (he's an
older gentleman)...he's just fantastic! And everything he
does right that I never thought he'd be able to get to
thrills me beyond compare. It's the best feeling.
Like I've said b4, I have a feeling that teaching voice is
what I'm meant to do with my life. It never feels like
"work", but pays better (per hour) than any other job I've
ever held, and I'm not charging enough!!
So I'm thrilled for you that you're seeing such gains in
your karate ability - and it's nifty that your instructor's
probably getting the same kind of satisfaction out of it
that I do from my students' successes.
BTW, Beauty - the woman who frames my drawings (when I deem
them worthy - three of 'em, so far. You've seen all three.)
says the 2nd and 3rd are done, and they look utterly
fantastic. She's displaying them on easels in her shop so
they're the first thing ya see when you walk in the door,
because she thinks they look so great. If I get a chance to
take some decent pics of them, I'll put 'em up on the web so
you can see them framed. It warms a jewel-toned part of my
soul to be drawing again. Am thinking of getting into
acrylics, and using some of the pastel drawings that've
gotten smudged up, or didn't get executed well because of
the medium, as first drafts for acrylic paintings. It may
have to wait until after the move to the new house, in
theory sometime in July.
Keep up the good work!!! Break a brick for me, k? Hey, if
I get a brick and paint someone's face on it and send it to
you, could you give it a great whack for me?? ;) You could
start a business! I'd display the pieces with pride on my
mantle.....;)
Be well, friend. I think of you often.

i'm a singleton who runs a modest info site about mp at
http://www.multiplepersonality.org . a little while ago i received an
email from a therapist asking some questions i wanted to toss out
wider, since i've minimal experience with the places she's talking
about.
she writes:
>I am [name], a [mid-west city] therapist. I am working with
multiples more >and more --presently have five on my caseload -- and
am right now deciding >which place/s to recommend for one of them.
Thanks for your help. I love >your site. It's a valuable service.

I do not be doing phys.body stuff at all when before now. I not have
problems w/peoples. I was actor a lot. I guess that be phys. body stuff. I
read in public, lecture, teach, etc. Every once in a great while I go blank
- but mostly we do the stuff just fines, be just someone takes over who would
never make us look foolish in public. And this does feel good when we do it,
if it works, which when we do it for demo it always does because we do be
sure to make sure we pick things to do which we do can do.
